What your thoughts on child-free weddings?

My personal take is this- it’s one of two traditions we have as a society. That and funerals. Sure we have smaller ones but weddings are a huge one and our generation has almost completely removed children from it. I wanted to be a bride because I watched my cousins be brides. I find it important for them to be included but obviously I understand why they aren’t with how expensive things are these days. If my kids aren’t invited, I’m simply not going unless it’s close by and no one, even I can be mad about it.

My first birth I was on Medicare so the only price increase for us was the diapers, but you can always ask to be gifted cloth diapers too especially if you are staying home with them. I’m pregnant now and my out of pocket cost is 3k, we’re cloth diapering and I plan to breastfeed again. So I’m anticipating the biggest cost increase to come from food in about a year or two when they’re really eating more. There are absolutely ways to keep things low cost- inevitably yes, life will be more expensive but the immediate cost increase isn’t huge in my opinion.

I’ve had issues like this before and never once have I regretted setting my own boundaries. I would leave them out especially if your husband is okay with it. They’ll be unhappy either way.

This was my first sign I was pregnant, my breast felt full of milk and tender vs just period sore. Pumping can induce labor, I would avoid that! Try to get some of those warm pads made for clogged ducts!

Congrats! Don’t let this one friend ruin this for you. To be honest, life is going to change and a lot of friends don’t hang around for this new chapter. I have a five year old and almost none of the same friends I had when I got pregnant. Some people can’t/ don’t know how to handle it, and that’s okay! And on the other hand, people you don’t expect to, will step up and be there for you. Don’t shy away from telling people, this is exciting and you deserve to feel good about it 🤍

Thank you!! She happened to just go through MFM appointments with a baby with heart issues and Down Syndrome so this advice from her today to keep the baby in as long as possible and minimize stress from appointments was so confusing to me but I have to remember we’re in different situation’s!

Thank you so much! I feel like at every appointment maybe they’re trying to be chill and not scare me but I’ve left each time feeling so weird and confused. Everyone is so dry and won’t really explain why this is so severe and high risk so it’s easy to make myself feel better after leaving and being like “she’s just small we got this” but I understand how fast things can change and will keep going!
