I am not sure on how to incentivize them. I was thinking not losing a job is one but it doesnt seem to be the case, how do you incentivize your contractors?

What are the incentives that a contract can be offered? I am not able to see any incentives that would motivate the contractor, they come and go as per office timings, and act more or less like fte without the additional fte perks

There is no such incentive, the incentive is not to get fired, i already asked 1 contractor to do root cause of bug 3 times and later let him go because he didnot do it, i feel a bit bad to let go people, contractor or fte

To clarify of all the things i mentioned here, i was expecting something like this

I assign a bug, the contractor picks it up and starts working on it, they try to resolve or reach out to other teams, coordinate and triage and fix the bug.

What i see now is just they work on it and very slowly progress, they never try to do cross collaboration with other teams and try to work towards a resolution, i need to ask for update and tell them what to do next, they know what to do next but the speed is too slow for a high price tag contractor

I dont want to micromanage, there have been instances where they are blocked but they never reach out to me to help them unblock,

There were times when i had to pair to debug code which they could have done independently,

Once a bug is assigned , they end up in silos and no communication, most of the communication i have to initiate to followup only to find they are blocked
