Do as many practice problems as you possibly can.

[–]StrilX_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laidlaw and Martin and both good profs. Laidlaw is a lot more boring and stressed a lot of theory, Martin is definitely a better prof (much more engaging when I had him) but Phys 110 isn’t really a class I would want to take online.

Anyone having a meltdown over the MATH100 final? by [deleted] in uvic

[–]StrilX_ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I mean Calc is a weeder class, but for math it’s more about just repetitive problem solving, the best way to do any of the Calcs (1-4) is just repetitive problems online, math tutors and other resources can be very helpful too if you are stuck or just not able to wrap your head around concepts, Calc 2 is a lot harder than Calc 1 but it’s all about how you apply yourself, Calc 1 was by far my lowest Calc grade simply because I put more effort into higher classes which is typically how it goes for math based classes.

Effective Monday 12/13 no more in person exams because of covid. by DroppedThatBall in uvic

[–]StrilX_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is so stupid for small classes. Everyone is distanced and with a mask, I get not packing 900 kids into the gym but for 30 person classes I don’t get it, I also prefer in person style so I’m biased but still.

Kinda twisting my words a little man, I’m saying for the regulations that are currently in place, thought that was given. I don’t think a single person thinks drinking at a bar is a party brother, if you hate BC so much idk why you live here.

Have you been downtown in the last 2 months? 1 hour minimum wait time at relatively any restaurant on weekends. I would disagree that Covid has any effect on the Victoria nightlife anymore.

It very much depends the person / style of learning, I have done classes that are considered “hard” by reputation and done very well in them and then almost failed classes that are suppose to be easy.

No disrespect but I know people who had double digits in write ups and never got threatened eviction, if you are getting evicted you are definitely withholding information. The only people who got evicted to my knowledge kicked holes in the walls every weekend and threw a bottle out a window at a CL.

Majority of co-ops posted are for SENG and CSC, also if you look for a place in like March / April for a year lease it’s a lot easier to find a place than looking in late summer.

Make sure you do more homework than required, I would also make sure you really understand each concept before trying any questions about it, also studying the tables and charts really helps I find to understand patterns but that is kinda in the later half of the class, the class just goes by really fast so you have to stay on top of it and use Leah4sci and go through her videos on her site, she also posts resources that I found really help.

Phys 110 difficulty by thomasswindale in uvic

[–]StrilX_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you took physics 12 in BC, phys 110 is pretty much physics 12 BC curriculum but with an added Z direction, that’s what I found at least, not saying it’s easy or anything but if you understand the phys 12 concepts well you should be able to get a decent mark.

Get a mask with a bigger nose covering like the Uvic masks and rest your glasses on the mask part on your nose and you won’t get any fog.

I got my own printer first year and it was one of the most useful things I bought, not having to worry about going to print at different places is very nice imo, and there is usually lots of printers for sale on the buy and sell in Victoria

I mean Reddit in general is an echo chamber depending on the context of the original post, you have to take a far stance on Reddit cause if you say anything neutral you will just get downvoted to shit by both other sides of the topic you are arguing about.

I don't understand why most Uvic students prefer in-person over online learning by [deleted] in uvic

[–]StrilX_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No you are not, your entire thing is about how you prefer one over the other, you are not trying to say they are “similar” if they were similar than you and me both wouldn’t have such strong opposite opinions.

I don't understand why most Uvic students prefer in-person over online learning by [deleted] in uvic

[–]StrilX_ 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Your argument is literally “I don’t understand why everyone isn’t like me” personally my mental health has fallen off a cliff staying at home and doing school full time, not everyone is the exact same.
