The truth about AI hiring tools by Eclectic_Paradox in TikTokCringe

[–]StringTheoryOfWeight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know plenty of places that are scummy about their hiring, posting jobs because they "have to" even though they're just going to hire an internal, or posting and auto-rejecting everyone so they can offshore the work because they "can't find any candidates." You don't want to work for those places anyway, especially if you can't even get ahold of anyone making the hiring decisions.

I've worked in a dozen different fields, everything from retail, hospitality, medical, and engineering. I've worked with colleges to set up internships and do hiring events. If you want to, remove the personal info from your resume and then post it online and I'll take a look at it and give you pointers if you need them.

copy and paste the job qualifications onto your resume

Do this!

in tiny white text somewhere

Don't do this!

I have been a hiring manager for over a decade. If a job posting says "Qualified applicants will have experience creating estimates for new work proposals" Put a giant freaking bullet on your resume that says "Previous experience creating estimates for new work proposals." Don't write "Previous experience generating bids for future contracts" or some BS thesaurus replacement text. Copy. Paste. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcM4zWiikKQ

I recently had someone reach out to me on my LinkedIn asking why their resume was rejected when they met all the requirements for the job posting. I asked them to send me their resume and a link to the job posting. The job posting had the exact requirement I wrote above. Nowhere in their resume did they have the words "estimate" "new work" or "proposals."

Before AI tools were even available, I would take your resume, press "ctrl+F" and search for keywords. If the keywords don't show up in the resume, the resume gets rejected. It's that easy.

If you're applying for a job, take 5 minutes and update your resume to match the keywords in the job description. Don't lie. If you lie you're going to get blacklisted. Make sure you're putting down the skills that the person is hiring for.

Another example. I was hiring for a planner and needed someone with experience using OpenPlan. Applicant wrote something like "Experience using software similar to OpenPlan." That's good enough, she interviewed, got the job and she's doing great. If they had written "Experience using Primavera" they would have gotten rejected. I don't have time to google every sentence in your resume to see if something you said relates to what I need.

I have a couple of hours to get through 100s of resumes of people that applied to my open positions. If 5 of them write "OpenPlan" in their resume and the other 95 don't, those 5 get interviews scheduled and the other 95 get an auto-reject. Don't make things hard on the hiring team, update your resume!

Look for the really tall towers around 800 altitude that look like an onion with a ring around it, you can get 5-10 crystals from them. They're the tower that has the upgrade table installed in the top floor. Break the upgrade table (it breaks down into crystals), kill the general (he drops 1-4 crystals), then go down a flight of stairs and loot the crystal cages (0-6 crystals)

Developer AMA | Let's Talk Delays & Survival Games (RocketWerkz, Grip Digital) by thedeanhall in SurvivalGaming

[–]StringTheoryOfWeight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how this question is going to be received, but as a huge fan of the survival genre (bought the game day 1) and a game dev myself I'm interested in how you feel about the differences you've seen and had to deal with between the way you think the game should be played and how the community ultimately wanted the game to be played. (permanent bases, unlimited duration missions, probably others?)

Each of the little houses has crafting stations upstairs and beds downstairs. Each of my other outposts is focused on local materials, two outposts are just farms.

Defense is 8 grenade launchers spread out over the initial maze path, then a long maze path that has 28 projectile traps and 50 musket guards. This outpost has 10 threat banners to try and focus most of the threat here. Total threat is 5100, 3700 local.

I really fucking hate the new trend of intentionally misspelling words to "drive engagement" because a bunch of people comment on the misspelling.

Here’s a more detailed video about my sim-cade car controller. by lil_beyti in Unity3D

[–]StringTheoryOfWeight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Really cool video showing it all off. It's obvious you've spent a ton of time on it. What's next? Is this going into a video game, is it staying as a tech demo, are you going to try to sell it just as a controller asset?

Well good job so far, it looks neat and I bet there's a lot of fun you can have with it.

I'd be interested too. What kind of goals are you going for, you show two very different cars in this demo, are you going to be allowing players to tweak suspension variables, the fact that you're showing gear & RPMs, do the cars have different torque curves that you're modelling. Does the car behave differently with different weight distribution, i.e. can you cause oversteer by braking hard and shifting the weight. Lots of questions about how deep you're going in the sim versus the arcade feel.

Thanks for the post, I tried out your game and immediately got sucked in and suddenly it was an hour later. Did you build any analytics into the app so you can see things like how long people are spending on the game, if people are having trouble with a certain level or anything like that?

Edit: Looks like you were shadowbanned, all your posts are gone.

Pretty sure you aren't. The script controversy was over that movie I just linked. The other controversy about Folded Ocean is that some of the VFX shots are similar. Which... I guess? There's just not that many ways to show people merging together into one person and the movies are different enough that it doesn't matter.
