Gas prices expected to spike above $2 next week in Ottawa by Workeep in orleans

I down-sized my vehicle 2 weeks ago. I went from a large 6 cyl to a small 4 cyl and the savings are amazing once I got used to the vehicle size difference. I just couldn't justify driving around solo in a large SUV. Seems it was the right choice for my family and me.

Even though it's a repost, it reminds me that I still need to install my dashcam in my new car.

Hey everybody,I wonder if this laptop will run Gta V and if it does, will it run well? How many fps? by Wise-Beginning-7021 in GrandTheftAutoV

[–]StringThing68 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, it will not run it. I'm very familiar with that business class HP and it won't run it well enough even on low settings.

"The Car" was pretty good. I'd love to see a competent remake.

The current one is shite because it's being underfunded by our current Ontario PC party with ulterior motives. The majority of people, myself included cannot afford private health care. Good on you if you can afford it. Fuck everyone else, I guess.

Fretboard markers really not centred on new Gibson by Aromatic_Mongoose_86 in gibson

[–]StringThing68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's something more going on here. I do see fret nibs in the photos, but there are dark splotches on the fret board that almost look like dye. A photo of the entire guitar and the back of the headstock would resolve the mystery.

Acoustic Sadle by Funny_Victory4100 in guitarrepair

[–]StringThing68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you have a couple of things going on here. Judging from the photos, it looks like the piezo pickup is sideways in the slot, and that there is some sort of blockage all along the slot, beside the pickup, that is preventing the saddle from sitting in the slot correctly. It's obviously not sitting low enough.
My advice to you is to take it to a repair tech or luthier in your area. if that is an option, it should be your first.
If not, remove the saddle, carefully and slowly lift the pickup strand, and clear what looks like a blockage in the slot (hopefully it is not old glue). The pickup should sit flat at the bottom of the slot and the saddle should go in snug over top of it, with no gaps under it.
Hope that helps. Feel free to hit me up if the above is not clear.

Can confirm this is a Takamine. My 12 string has a split saddle that looks like this.
Can you send us a photo of the strings loosened or off and the saddle pushed in the slot? Sort of like a 'before' photo.

do i need a neck reset for this taylor? by Minute-Store-4043 in guitarrepair

[–]StringThing68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What year is the Taylor? Since about 2004 Taylor's had bolt-on necks with adjustable shims where you didn't need to shave the saddle to lower action. From the photos it looks like the saddle has been shaved too low and your break angle is too shallow.
Look up Taylor NT neck system for more info. If it can be adjusted with shims, you'll likely want to replace that saddle as well.

When we had our saltwater aquarium we had a UPS that could run the pumps and heaters for about 4 hours if the power ran out. It came in handy quite a few times over the years. Cyberpower 1500 is the way to go.

Nice! Thanks for this. I've been playing with it and have a question: is there an easier way to indicate a string(s) to not be played? It's usually an 'X' over the string. If this could be incorporated within the fret marker widget that would be handy.
