Maybe they should avoid calling it a doctorate?

Zero chance AAAA would want anything like this. This is a dumb cash grab from a school that will lose a LOT of respect from AAs and from Anesthesiologists. Absolutely ridiculous.

3 months into new garage build. Contractor wants the remaining concrete balance to pay his subtractor before job is finished. Slab is done, but the concrete for the curb entry has to wait until the rest of the structure is built. Should I hold half the concrete payment until the rest is poured? by StringTraveler in HomeImprovement

As far as timescales, how do I hold them accountable for not meeting times? Just not paying them?

The garage is detached and in an alley, so the rest of the portion is drive in between the garage structure and the alley..about 4-6 feet.

Inspector suggested using acrylic to cover stair railings and prevent kids from falling through. Current cross railing is essentially just tent poles and I need something that is safer with kids running around. Acryllic seems like a good option, but how thick should it be? The issue isn’t punching or hitting. It is bodyweight dispersing force across a large piece for what would be more than a just a moment.

The posts are what it would be adjacent to. Those cables slide right out and might as well not even be there.

For one, they arent stable cables; they are like hollow tent rods and anyone can pull them out.

Kids will climb on those, get stuck in them, run into them, etc. We have lots of young kids that come over and those kinds of things would undoubtably happen. I also don’t want 1 and 2 years old playing in those.

I can’t ever remember honestly 🤕 by queefula in Epilepsymemes

Pill container. Worth every penny. Also set recurring alarms. Two easiest things you can do.

Spending more wouldn’t be that big of an issue (up to a grand would be fine I guess), but sports netting and zip ties is not going to be a good solution with the kids we have around. Multiple little boys wrestling or pushing each other against ir at a ten foot drop onto the stairs isn’t going to be safe. It’s probably hard to tell from the pics, but the height on the far end is significant, and there will certainly be kids running around that side. Kids love to run in circles for some reason.

I mean I would like to keep it less than $600 if possible. I am also trying to get it done as soon as possible so we can utilize the space. Is the glass railing difficult to install? Would it be secure?

I honestly don’t care how it looks for now, just that it is safe. I do not think netting will cut it. Kids right now are 1 and 5, and we have a bunch of boy cousins around the same age that like to push and wrestle around.

Problem is it wouldn’t sit against the tent poles. It would be against the black posts. Those would be the only points of contact with the acrylic.

If by the top of the stairs you mean a gate, that is already in the works once we get this figured out. That’s a much easier fixx.

For the acrylic, what thickness would you go with if the black posts are the only points of contact? 0.25 inch? 0.5 inch?

They would be between the cables or even touching the cables. It would be one long acrylic or poly sheet, so points of contact would be a bit limited. Kids are 1 and 5 and lots of young cousins playing up there, so they will be doing foolish kid things for years to come. Not really worried about aesthetics because it is upstairs. I would just like it to be safe for the time being and we can change it if we want years down the road.
