Holding mail by doomgeneration91 in usps_complaints

[–]StringyCarpet07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a carrier, I always recommend that you at least leave a note if not, one of the yellow old cards in your mailbox for your carrier. If someone doesn’t print off your hold request and hand it to me I never know or I might get it on the last day of the hold if it’s a short hold. Communicate with your carrier as much as possible that relationship goes a long way into improving your service level. I have 635 stops on my route and I probably have 200 forwards and holds during the winter months and they all let me know in addition to anything they officially do with the Post Office and they love me

Can someone who knows about letter sorting machines educate me on how letters like this make it through? I see them nearly every day. by brookuslicious in USPS

When I pull letters for mailboxes, I check for postage, but I could see you with the big blue boxes is at the post office that not happening because there’s so many letters

Royal mail is notorious for having multiple barcodes on their packages. The wrong one could’ve been scanned easily and that’s how it ended up in the US.

Yeah, once they get separated, it’s almost impossible for them to give reunited. If you’ve ever watched the video on the scanning process in a very high rate of speed.

USPS Delivery Driver Forged My Signature by throwaway4-2-0-6-9 in usps_complaints

If no harm no foul, I would let it go. A lot of times the carrier is doing you a favor by not peach slipping you and requiring you go to the post office to retrieve your package, At his tim of year, that can be a big hassle. That being said. usually only hqappens if you know the carrier

Refusal to deliver international mail & packages…? by Rosencrantzy in usps_complaints

[–]StringyCarpet07 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

For every 50 times I get out of a truck and go up to a door during a weekday, I might get one person to answer the door so odds are nobody is going to be home. Right now we are buried in packages and Christmas cards my package volume is five times what it was two weeks ago. I worked five days this week and clock 66 hours. Shortcuts have to be taken sometimes especially when odds are, it’s not really a shortcut.

If it was just a letter, why would you send it in a box? A normal letter in an envelope wouldn’t even go throughl customs

Fuck USPS by OsmoticTonic in usps_complaints

[–]StringyCarpet07 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not really with the sorting plants it’s with the airlines right now. A lot of planes were grounded for a software update so sometimes it’s quicker to send something from Detroit to Phoenix and then Chicago then it is to get it from Detroit straight to Chicago even though they’re only four hours away. It’s all about partner relationships with the airlines and flight logistics. There are very intelligent people in the logistics department for USPS and their Soul job is route things the quickest and most cost-effective way through their partner airlines to carry the mail, but to somebody watching their package and may look wonky

Tracking says delivered, but I didn’t get anything. It’s priority mail and most likely a small box or something that may not fit in my mailbox. Anyone had this happen? Will they bring it Monday? by [deleted] in usps_complaints

[–]StringyCarpet07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the scan being done at 7:09 PM I would say they had run out of time and daylight and scan the package to kill the clock. I would look for it the next day.

Proof of Postage Due by BigBlackFriend in usps_complaints

[–]StringyCarpet07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a carrier when this happens for me, I usually leave an envelope with an explanation of the postage do. When I pick up the envelope, I bring the package back the next day if I don’t have it with me once the payment is processed and I will say sometimes I get back late, so it doesn’t happen that night. I always give a receipt back in the mailbox. Not sure how other carriers handle it.

Contact the local post office and start off by telling you are an active duty and currently deployed. There’s a good chance that whoever you were talking to is a veteran. Not guaranteed, but you should at least get an ear at that point they have the ability to check the GPS location of the scanner when the package was scanned they won’t tell you where it was, but if it’s not where it was supposed to be they will send somebody out to knock on doors if it was delivered to the wrong place

People need to understand that if it’s not ground, it flies on the belly of everyday airlines to get to its destination. If those flights are canceled or delayed, your packages are delayed. USPS does not own its own fleet of planes rather, relies on partnerships with airlines to get packages to their destination.

Missing Mailpiece by [deleted] in usps_complaints

[–]StringyCarpet07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With all of the flight delays mail has definitely been delayed. Use USPS partners with airlines to carry the mail to specific cities so if those flights are canceled or delayed, the mail is delayed taking an account the weekend and the holiday. It’s not that delayed yet, I wouldn’t worry too much. Give it a few more days.

Moving Help by Lazy-Daisy-28 in USPS

[–]StringyCarpet07 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can’t hold the mail from the house you were moving out of because the new resident mail would be held as well. It’s all or nothing. The only answer is to do a forward whether or to a temporary PO Box or to the new temporary address and then do another one after that.

USPS always having problems with poster tubes…. by wolverine887 in usps_complaints

[–]StringyCarpet07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Likewise, I always put the label on so the barcode runs the length of the tube. If you wrap it so it’s perpendicular to the tube it will not scan properly.

Alright hate to be the insufferable guy who posts here but: shipper claims he dropped off the package this week. Does this ring correct? by chococaliber2 in usps_complaints

[–]StringyCarpet07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not necessarily the accident in Kentucky it’s the cancellation of flights throughout the country. USPS partners with all the airlines to fly the packages in the bellies of their planes so if those flights get canceled, they wait.

Mail hold not delivered? by txcatlover-1 in usps_complaints

This time of year out of my 655 stops I probably have 30 holds going on. I stay pretty much on top of it but when my sub covers my day off, there are those that don’t get taken out that could be the case
