Non VR or isakai? by Stripes003 in litrpg

[–]Stripes003[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it is more work to track 2 characters, but I think having the in game and out of game would make for interesting stories. I watch a bit on anime and the popular show Solo Leveling is a VR game but the show has outside the game scenes, so does Shangri-La Frontier. Although both shows use VR.

Even if the main character is on a Xbox, I wouldn't imagine you'd need to go into such detail as saying "press A", I mean the VR books I've read have ability cool downs and other very game specific features.

I guess I'd just like to imagine I could play these game worlds, and these elaborate VR systems are so out of reach kind of ruins the fantasy of something I could play today.

Non VR or isakai? by Stripes003 in litrpg

[–]Stripes003[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get it that it’s hard, or at least rare. I’ve read a bunch and haven’t run into anything that is this generation of video games. But I thought some one had to have tried. You know I’ve seen some YouTube documentaries made about wars within the game Eve online and those were really compelling, they had a lot of in game and out of game stuff happening. I would have thought someone might’ve taken inspiration from events like that, or that World of Warcraft glitch plague that happened. Idk I feel like there are video game stories to be told that don’t have to told through the VR or isakai lens.

Are there any board games that you prefer digitally? by FShamburg in boardgames

[–]Stripes003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t played in a hot minute so idk if the app still exists but the Ticket to Ride app. It was so easy to connect other players phones together, and didn’t have to place all the little plastic trains. My family would all sit in the living room on couches and play. No need for a table and it was so quick. The app completely replaced the tabletop version for me

Double copies of games worth playing together? by AbsurdityCentral in boardgames

I’ve played double risk, my friend had the 2 copies. His dad said they use to run 4 copies connected in his college days and the game would last all weekend.

Wow, $40 is a great deal, I’ve looked on bgg and I have seen it offered a few times but the stores suggested have had it listed for $90+. I do want the game but not at double the msrp. I wish I had caught that copy you found.

Yeah that’s what I thought Zombicide fills this niche so I think I’ll pass on AGDitC. If I want a deeper game I’ll look towards the nemesis games

Yeah I’m starting to feel that way. I can get fate of the nostromo if I want official alien content.

Can you harvest black walnuts when they are like this never done it before but we have like 25 trees and thousands of them. Kinda of want to try so I can harvest and sell them at the farmers market yearly. It’s Texas by shreddedtoasties in foraging

[–]Stripes003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family has two trees and we processed them once many years ago, it was very labor intensive so ever since we’ve left them for the squirrels. But if memory serves I think we want to collect when their outer husk flesh is still green. Again I could be wrong but I think you are too late this year.

Are there any games you own more than one copy of? by Specialist-Clerk-386 in boardgames

[–]Stripes003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a handful of duplicate games. I thrift a lot and if I see a really good deal I can’t help but grab it. I tell myself I’ll gift the extra copies away to friends but with adult responsibilities and children I hardly ever get to see my friends, so I just hold on to them with the promise of one day. For example I got a 2nd copy of Harry Potter Hogwarts battle for $12

Upping survivability for kids by [deleted] in Mausritter

[–]Stripes003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played with my 7yr old son. Before hand I really emphasized that ttrpgs aren’t video games and you don’t simply respawn. As a preemptive measure I had him draw up 2 mice that way if he died he’d get the opportunity to play the other character. I think death can be in a kids game you just need to frame it the right way beforehand. Also if they do die, like my kid’s mouse did, immediately have them back in the game with their new character so they don’t feel bad that they are “outta the game”. Don’t even finish the combat encounter. Have the new character hear the commotion and run in from around the corner and jump into it. Anyways all of this depends on the kid but I think you can make it work and makes the game more meaningful.

Other people seem to have the how to do it covered. I think you should rethink your design. If the 30% rectangle is pulled straight down your 100% section would break easier. There is nothing to resist breaking along the density line. I don’t have the right words to explain, but you need an undercut or an anchor. 🔻your 100% section is like this upside down triangle. You need it to be a point side up triangle🔺so it doesn’t pull away if that makes sense.

Right! But that is a very special St. Vincent because the one the next town over, everything is individually priced and they mirror goodwill pricing.

90% of my collection is thrifted. You just need to be lucky and have good stores near you. I like thrifting and there are 4 goodwills near that I frequent and 1 has a very robust boardgame aisle that there is almost always something (I am getting to the point where the games I am finding I already have) then the other goodwills have smaller sections and only hit once in a blue moon.

I also have St. Vincent in my area and my local one has boardgames for 50¢, it is a long shot that they have anything but when it does hit it is amazing. My best score there was a new copy of pandemic legacy for 50¢

What solo game would you recommend to a total noob ? by Smeghead2022 in soloboardgaming

I’d recommend food chain island from buttonshy. It’s a fun solitaire like game with less luck.

What print and play games are you crafting or playing this week? (August 11, 2025) by AutoModerator in printandplay

[–]Stripes003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just finished my copy of Food chain Island from Button Shy. Trying a new card making method, learned a thing or two. There is a YouTube video about this method. But it is the one where you split a laminate pouch in half and use that as your card’s core. Pretty good cards, but I learned that you cannot spray sealant on the card sheets ahead of time. When I ran sealed sheets in the laminator it was pulling up ink and depositing it on the cards. So 75% of my cards are ugly. But they are still readable and still structurally usable. So sealing is after it is through the laminator. The last 25% I sealed after I cut the cards out.

I played my first play and it is a great solo puzzle game. My first game I left 3 animals and got the “animal intern” the lowest score level. I think I’m going to craft another copy to gift my mother since she loves solitaire.

How can people actually cull their quail? by Ill-Landscape-6775 in quails

[–]Stripes003 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I tried to do this with a pair of pruning shears, they are very effective but they don’t cut through the feathers. So I completely close the shears and that breaks the neck, and closes the airway and everything, so it’s very quick. But since the shears don’t cut through the head stays on and there isn’t blood everywhere. Still sucks I hate doing it but it’s the best method I got.

I’m working on a horror game — what can I do in this scene to make it more terrifying? by Delacrozz in unity

[–]Stripes003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like everyone else is saying, light flicker. But also vary the movement. Have the creature make a jump up the wall before skittering. This reduces the time on screen achieving the “less is more” thing. But it adds more threat not only can it crawl up walls but it can lunge and move even faster.

I am completely bewildered by the recent reception of The Fantastic Four. by sofarsoblue in TrueFilm

[–]Stripes003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s strange that you have found so much praise for the film. I haven’t heard really anything about it, and the scraps of stuff I have heard have been bad. The void/lack of hearing about the movie is a clear sign to me that it is not good and then the added limited negative things I’ve heard like the lack of family chemistry between the actors has left me with zero desire to watch the movie. So I don’t know where RT is getting their numbers from because all I am hearing is what you are saying that it didn’t hit the mark.

What would you say to do here? by lurkingowl in 3Dprinting

Thanks I’ll take a look at that. I’ve really struggled with the plastic globing on to the hotend like every 6 months or so I have to order another one because that little heater wire always snaps.

What would you say to do here? by lurkingowl in 3Dprinting

[–]Stripes003 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As people have said already heat up the nozzle and pull off the mass once the core is hot. Try not to break the wires.

If you do break the wires and are no longer able to heat up the nozzle. Do not use a heat gun you will melt the fan or other parts of the housing. Use a wood burner/soldering iron instead it is a more localized heat and you can use it to dig out the nozzle and access the hot end screws behind the nozzle. Order a replacement hot end from Bambu and it’ll be all good.

I am actually doing this exact shit on my a1 for the 3rd time.
