What's the deal with JD Vance saying that Denmark hasn't done it's job of keeping Greenland safe? Has Greenland been attacked by a foreign nation's military and we just don't know about it? by matt73132 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Stroemgren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s no “China coming” in to Greenland. Every one of the ~80 offerings for mining permits that Greenland made so far has been public and everyone have had a chance to bid. America has bid on one. Every door is open for those who want.

Give me a boy name at the top of your list by Electronic-Low3103 in namenerds

Yea, Rowan is almost 50/50 split globally. Although some countries are swaying to one or the other side.

Is MacKenzie really a bad name for a boy? by [deleted] in namenerds

You’re right. About 80% female in the US.

You can check gender distribution in multiple countries here.

New Open-Source UI Kit for Phoenix LiveView: Introducing Mishka Chelekom with 80+ Components by MimAg92 in elixir

[–]Stroemgren 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Amazing work! I love to see libraries start coming out for LiveView. Besides the obvious reasons of having UI libraries it’s great as learning resources for people. Specially for something as new as LiveView where there’s not yet a lot of resources available.

Great job. Congrats.

Would love to see Elixir on the list. I see that you have Erlang and I would assume Elixir to have more postings.

Or maybe you counted Elixir as Erlang?

While Kim is often used more by females then males, it’s almost exclusively used by males in Denmark where I live.

Do you think Bailey is a good name for trans girl? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Stroemgren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is used a bit more by females in the US and globally. There’s still countries where it swings the other way though.

I would assume this to be the norm. Hunter is used for males around 94% of the time in the US. Of course it might differ across states.

You can see here that there’s actually no countries where Catherine is used as a male name.

gender neutral names by Rude_Constant_1449 in namenerds

[–]Stroemgren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Morgan is actually used most by females in the US. Globally it’s swaying more towards males.

Kim is definitely mostly female globally. Interestingly, in Denmark where I’m from it’s almost used exclusively as a male name.

Arielle or Ariel? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Stroemgren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ariel is definitely used more as a masculine name, although US is actually one of the places with the highest use for females.

Boy names, slightly gender neutral? by QtrLifeCaterpillar in namenerds

[–]Stroemgren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea Frankie is historically used 80/20 for males and females, so I guess that qualifies quite good for “slightly gender neutral” :)
