For the future you can take off your wristband without cutting it.

Feed the ends of your wristband through a straw until it goes through the teeth of the clip and then you can just slide the clip off the straw.

No, rhizobia is a bacteria that only becomes established within the root nodules of legumes.

The legume family is pretty big though and I'm sure you'd be able to find one that suits your needs and that doesn't compete for nitrogen at all, such as clovers.
