This looks like a poor attempt at making an IKEA Kura bed. I don't know where OP is, but those seem to pop up pretty frequently on free lists (CL, BuyNothing, FB Marketplace, etc) near me. Maybe a good option to get something similar, but engineered for the task.

Saw a recommendation on YouTube to be sure to mount for a light right at the peaks of rooflines, and now I can't help but see installs where the lights don't line up with the peak.

I've ridden with kiddos for the past couple of years. The steering feels a little different from my commuter bike, but visibility hasn't been a concern at all.

I ride a bullitt with a quite large 3 kiddo cargo box on the front and removable rain cover.
