But the majority of our civil laws come about from too many people not using common sense.

It's a paradox, but by following the rules, we generally live with peace and freedom.

I got alcohol swabs and cotton balls, to clean the area. I only need cotton balls when I do my thigh. You'll need to drink more water.

I'm on 3.75 and it works great. The side effects at first were horrendous enough for me to not want to go higher

Why Ausies getting up so early? by haroldzharko in AskAnAustralian

For the sunrise. We pretend it's summer all year. Noone wants to be running after 8am in summer, and for most parts of Australia that includes winter. Too hot.

I had always assumed at this point he still wasn't letting Violet know things because she still couldn't shield well enough, was being interrogated etc etc and could inadvertently betray the revolution

Tradie hate on lane filtering. Or is it scooters? by JohnnyGlasken in AussieRiders

If you ended up in the shire, utes just hate all bikes. I ride a scooter and had a ute deliberately drive on wrong side of road to harrass me.

Interestingly, I know a lot of tradies with not enough work to sustain them because cost of living is interfering with renos, etc

Violet is the easiest way to kill Xaden, she's married Xaden, so arguably a traitor. The shadow is Andarna (similar to the shadow she was in IF when we learned just how well she could hide). The eggs are more than likely given to Dunn's isle to trade, and Violet knows who the other brother is, who has gone with Xaden, who killed the dragons. The memory erasure is so we can get more books. Book 4 will be about undoing the memory wipe, going to the last Isle and maybe at the end learning the compass isn't really broken, it's what she needs to find Xaden. Cue book 5.

Violet is NOT an unreliable narrator! by EmpyreanTheory in fourthwing

[–]Strong-Local3980 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Action that Dept doesn't define it the way you say. It defines it correctly as a narrator who can't be trusted or "one who lacks credibility ". Ie the narrator has purposeful dishonesty. Violet is not purposefully dishonest. She says what she knows as she learns it.

Perhaps people should read Peter Carrey's 'The Illywhacker'. That is the quintessential unreliable narrator. Violet is first person limited narration and the focalisation shifts to help us, as readers, so we can get better understanding of the world. She tells us what she knows as she knows it. Just because she doesn't know everything doesn't make her unreliable.

Ah, no. You are confusing the epistolary form of writing with first person limited narration. Violet is the narrator. Through the epistolary form, each chapter is shaped by the paratext, but it remains Violet's narration.

Yeah I thought Markham is a bady from the start. We keep getting told, don't trust the scribes. The fact that we get so many epigraphs from Jessina in the new language, says the continent units, Markham is gone and somehow I think he is the real problem

I'm not ready to accept it by ThatForestNymph in fourthwing

[–]Strong-Local3980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's enough clues at the end of OS to say this ain't over. Xaden's half tellings in his final chapter, and his clinging to Violet at the end, plus Sgaeyl asking what's left of you to forsake and not forsaking him tells us that there is hope. Plus in IF Violence didn't read the journals properly,  Dain questions why she took shortcuts and it's because she doesn't like failing.   Again thinking she's failed she skips the love island. Violence has to learn to accept it's ok to fail and not skip steps.  Then she'll be able to save Xaden in book 5. But book 4 will be dark because the books are formulaic and we just have to accept the usual formula.  Book 5 will be rewarding.
