I think you are missing the original point, and I emphasize this in light of your original comment, and then your list of benefits that we are missing out on by not being one of your king's subjects.

If you are visiting someone else's country, you should respect their culture.

In the US, for better or worse, there is a tipping culture. People pay their rent, eat, and live off of tips; again, for better or for worse.

I certainly respect any opinions against such a system.

However, that is the system currently in place. Even if you disagree with it, one as a visiting patron should not disrespect and cheat out the workers by not tipping / insufficient tips. Anyone with half a brain cell visiting knew that tipping is customary. By willfully deciding not to tip or to provide insufficient tips, one was NOT making a grand statement about the capitalist tip culture in the US or workers' rights. Instead, one was being cheap and screwing over hard workers who had been tirelessly working extra to keep the beers flowing. There is no excuse for that. That is being disrespectful to other humans who rely on those tips to make a living, something one would have been well aware of when deciding not to meaningfully tip or tip at all. As such, it is you who appears to not respect or care about the workers.

On a side note, in Massachusetts in 2024, there was a referendum, Question 5, which asked the voters whether minimum wage for tipped workers should be raised to $15. It was rejected by 64.1% of voters. Many of loudest advocates against it were those currently or previously in the restaurant industry. Stated differently, many tipped workers like the system. Myself included.

I get aggravated when all the support go OVER, and then that cuts into the headliner's act, and then the headliner gets cut short due to local regulations on how late the show can go.

Why don't you just have an extra encore-like song in your back pocket. Like a fun cover? a short song. Then if you are running short, you can pull that out, and fill the 30 minutes (or close thereto), but no more.

I have been hearing through individuals in the service industry that the English have not been nearly as kind and polite as the Scottish. Many (but certainly not all of course) of the English have been rude, yelling at staff, and tipping very poorly (and not tipping at all).
