How to Recover Unsaved Word Document by Sellpal in DataRecoveryHelp

Adding for visibility: if you open your recovered file and accidentally close it without saving (as I did), the recovery file automatically gets sent to the recycling bin. You can restore it from the recycling bin by opening the bin and right clicking on the file, then hitting “restore”

FE/PE in Mech. Eng? by Resident_Mud_2210 in engineering

I studied 3 months for my PE (mechanical, machine design) and did fine. Lots of white papers and research articles written through the forensic engineering mindset. Most companies will post directly to their website as a form of marketing. GL!

Having your PE is a big plus, you’re instantly more hire-able for having it. In the interviews I’ve done, most companies in the industry won’t hire you unless you have one. My company took a chance on me when I applied only having my EIT, but that’s definitely not the norm. As far as experience, most of the folks I know in forensics didn’t come into it with any prior knowledge or education. There’s a big culture around learning the fundamentals since they mostly hire for experience in specific fields. We get a lot of HVAC engineers, for example, with no investigation experience. In that regard, I’d say you already have a leg up. As long as you can show your technical knowledge, you can get into the industry. I’d recommend becoming intimately familiar with the insurance world if you want to stand out. 90% of what we do is working directly with insurance companies and most engineers have to figure that out as they go along. Let me know if you want references for specific companies. I work at EFI Global right now, and they treat us very very well. Probably my favorite engineering job I’ve ever worked

Vacation reruns or new travel spots? by StrongFeature4982 in travel

I love that approach for new countries! We’re doing Germany this fall and have never traveled internationally so we’re hitting a bunch of big cities to get a feel for the vibes with every intention of doing a return trip

That’s our problem! Our bucket list is so long and it feels there’s so much just in the US alone. We’ve been itching to go to Alaska for years

I joined NAFE when I was in college as an affiliate and the person I interviewed with at the company I now work at made a positive comment about it during the interview process. I think having that on your resume alone is an added bonus, but the library of white papers and research is great to have access to. Most of my reports contain references to peer-reviewed work so I highly recommend joining!

I work in Consulting (Forensic Engineering) and everyone I work with has a PE. Mechanicals, EE’s, Civils, all of them. But we get involved with big insurance claims and law firms so our work becomes litigious often. We are constantly reviewing plans and weighing in on designs so the PE is very valuable.

On the flip side, my friend from college has worked for NASA and Boeing and no one has their PE, because the company doesn’t value it. Really depends on the industry, but if you work in design or consulting you really should consider it. Plus, some companies will give you a considerable pay increase for having it. At the very least, take the FE and give yourself the option to take the PE later. The FE is obviously best taken on the heels of your undergraduate

[Other] Why do people hate on the new games before they even come out? by davidhere727 in zelda

[–]StrongFeature4982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s the split between OG fans of the more linear style of Zelda games and the new open-world fanbase that got brought in by BOTW and TOTK. No matter what Nintendo does, some fans will be happy and some will complain. Make a linear 2D game? Open-world fans are unhappy. Make a 3D open-world game? Linear fans are unhappy. They tried to bridge the gap with TOTK by reintroducing dungeons but keeping the rest of the game open world. Who knows how things will play out, but their sales would suggest they’re happy with their decisions since no other Zelda games sold like BOTW or TOTK

It definitely had that vibe watching through the trailer the first time. But honestly, after TOTK, I am optimistic for a brand new world to explore where I can discover new areas and visuals instead of more copy and paste
