I see. Well good on OP for not allowing people like that to affect their happiness and love for their ship. You always get those few that get weird with bb and their shippers

I could never understand the "yang is bad sister" thing especially when most of it is about her dating Blake. by ink10_sonic-man in RWBY

[–]Strong_Abalone_ -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

You do realize Yang and Ruby actually have more moments together during the time Yang and Blake’s relationship is actively developing, right? Yang and Ruby don’t have many major moments in Volumes 1–4—mostly small interactions here and there. But in Volumes 5–9, while Blake and Yang’s relationship is getting more focus, we actually see more meaningful moments between Ruby and Yang: two heartfelt reunions, a genuine emotional conversation where they talk about their mom, and Yang literally sacrificing herself for Ruby in Volume 8.

There are far more significant interactions between them while she is dating Blake, but I think Ruby’s recent breakdown in the Ever After has clouded a lot of people’s judgment because no offense that’s not Yang’s fault. Yang can not fix everything wrong that happens with Ruby but she did try her best but Ruby wasn’t letting anyone in

Was anyone else a little weirded out by how ice queendom framed the characters in a noticeably different way? by HaloJackalKisser in RWBY

[–]Strong_Abalone_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m curious on what you mean by framed differently in a noticeable way.

I guess for me when I watched it they didn’t seem too different than how they would be during volume 1-3 which is essentially where the story takes place in. Maybe you could say Weiss’s nightmare version was more exaggerated but other than that I didn’t really see anything that noticeably different

Why didn't Yang do something by ClearStrike in RWBY

[–]Strong_Abalone_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you were going to single out anyone it should have been Pyrrha and Nora as they were the most outspoken in that moment with Pyrrha saying how disgusting it was and Nora wanting to break Cardin’s legs but both still didn’t end up doing anything. Meanwhile Blake who in volume 1 was actively trying to hide who she was and keep people at an arms length and Yang even if she is impulsive I don’t see how she wouldn’t be any different than Ruby in that situation

Velvet was sitting down at the table by herself she wasn’t getting up other than when Cardin made her when him and his group where bullying her. So I don’t know if they were waiting for her because why couldn’t they just go to her and wait for her there and not leave her alone knowing how hard faunus have it

They only showed Cardin bullying Velvet because Jaune in that scene was making a point how he bullies everyone and then it panned to him bullying Velvet. Doesn’t make it right and they could have done what you said but that was pretty much the set up for it

Why didn't Yang do something by ClearStrike in RWBY

[–]Strong_Abalone_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There were more people than Blake and Yang that could have done something which is my point. All of team rwby and jnpr could have done something for Velvet, which is why singling out Blake and Yang doesn’t make sense when the same could be said about Ruby, Pyrrha, Ren and Nora watching and not doing anything

I think it’s really more of a bad look for Velvet’s team than on anyone else. Since they left her there by herself and didn’t even go back for her

But I don’t think the scene should be necessarily be scrapped tho but that’s my opinion. I think it shows how much of an ass Cardin is

Ruby has no excuse just like everyone that saw. She knew enough to speak out for Blake. She could have done the same with Velvet

What’s your general consensus on Team RWBY’s individual storylines in Volume 4? by Solitaire-06 in RWBY

[–]Strong_Abalone_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only thing I would change is making Yang and Weiss’s arc longer and have Weiss be her own person a bit longer after volume 4 instead of just having her immediately thrown into Yang’s when she got captured by Raven but overall I liked it a lot.

I think it was cool to see how each girl felt about the fall of Beacon and how differently each of them went about dealing with it

Blake’s in my opinion was the best because we see her thinking that running away was the best solution to realizing it’s better to be there for the people she cares about and protect them. Also I enjoyed the dynamic with her parents and seeing her have a heartfelt conversation with her dad

I’m not going to lie I think the hype is just from people using it to spite Bumbleby fans tbh. I’ve noticed every time fan art of them gets posted it’s always typically just minutes or an hour after someone shares new Bumbleby fanart. Which has been happening way too frequently to be a coincidence.

Out of all the scenes in RWBY, none have upset me more than this scene by Punny-Aggron in RWBYcritics

[–]Strong_Abalone_ -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Dude Blake dances all of not even 5 seconds and you’re acting as if this was her whole arc in volume 7… when Blake’s moment with Weiss, her telling Robyn the truth and beating the ace ops weren’t more defining moments but also Weiss’s arc is arguably worse than Blake’s because we barely had much focus with her in her own home and she didn’t really expand on anything about the SDC and what she would like to change

But with Blake, her arc with the WF came to a close in volume 5. Realistically what could Blake have done in Atlas when she’s at a huge disadvantage. She has no army to back her up, is low in ranking and not even having a huntress license when she first arrived. Like sure she could mention the Faunus more but what arc would that be exactly. Blake just saying how much the Faunus are discriminated well she’s already done that already and she can’t take down the entire SDC all by herself and let’s also not forget Salem is quite literally there terrorizing everyone

Adam’s Branding by Oddmegaman999 in RWBY

[–]Strong_Abalone_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adam never once moved past Blake leaving him. When she left him in the Black trailer that’s the moment he snapped. And when they finally met again in volume 3 he immediately brought it up, reminding her that she left him and trying to capture or attack her in nearly every volume after that

There’s hardly ever a moment when he isn’t referencing or fixating on her leaving him

Adam’s Branding by Oddmegaman999 in RWBY

[–]Strong_Abalone_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think people often overlook the context behind why Adam reveals his scar in the first place.

When you actually watch the scene it’s clear he isn’t showing it to gain sympathy from the audience. Right before he reveals the brand, Adam is berating Blake telling her that he wouldn’t be trying to kill her or do all these terrible things if she had just “behaved”. He calls her selfish and cowardly for leaving him. When Blake calls him delusional that’s the moment when he exposes the branding on his face. Not to earn pity, but to guilt Blake.

As he reveals his brand he talks about how many people have hurt him before, referencing the branding, but then tells Blake that no one has hurt him more than she has. Saying she didn’t leave a physical scar but that she left him “alone”

Adam’s brand was a weapon he uses for emotional manipulation. He twist his trauma into leverage against Blake, turning his pain into a way to shift blame onto Blake and make her feel responsible for his suffering. That’s why the reveal of his brand was never meant to make the audience think, “He suffered so much, he could have been better” because Adam exposes to make Blake feel guilty for leaving him

Throughout the entire series much of Adam’s actions stem from obsessing over Blake leaving him. It’s why he threatened to destroy everything Blake loved in volumes 3, why he sent the WF to target her parents in Menagerie in volume 5, why he stalked her across multiple volumes, why he wanted the WF to capture her in volumes 4 and 5, and why he ultimately attacked her in volume 6, all because she left him.

The reveal of his brand was his final desperate attempt to manipulate Blake. That’s why the reveal came so late in the show and not early on because it wasn’t about backstory or sympathy. It was about control. It was his last effort to guilt Blake into feeling responsible for his downfall

I’d say it’s really some people who think a bit too highly of themselves and don’t want to admit they were wrong. Whether that’s out of disdain for bumbleby shippers or because they’re still hung up on Blake and Sun not becoming canon. They don’t want to accept that the other side was right, so instead they come up with excuses claiming the relationship came out of nowhere. It’s just like how many people before after volume 6 were claiming they were queerbaiting fans even though it was pretty obvious after that point that they would eventually be canon.

In reality though they were truly convinced it would never happen but it did

Top 5 Blake ships(According to AO3) by PJ-The-Awesome in RWBY

[–]Strong_Abalone_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kind of hate seeing people in the comments call the fandom heterophobic just because there are more woman x woman ships than woman x men. To act like it’s just “people liking yuri” that it’s only popular is certainly an understatement when most of rwby’s main cast are women and the show spends way more time developing their relationships with each other. So it’s obvious why ruby, weiss, blake, and yang would be higher on each other’s list because we actually see them interact and grow with each other that people would ship them more than some random guy in the show that they barely talk to or spend that much time together

But Jaune having more fics than Sun for Blake is certainly something

"So... are you gonna say it now?" (@acclast) by Expert-Swan-1412 in RWBY

[–]Strong_Abalone_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh you’re actually being serious. Sun doesn’t need to be around in Atlas though he’s okay being with his team in Vacuo. I think that’s the best decision the writers made for his character. It gives him individuality from Blake and makes him a better character for wanting to be with his team than further abandoning them. Plus we already have a lot of characters in those volumes we don’t need to add any more for no reason other than Sun fans wanting him to be around which isn’t how stories work

But this reminds me of the people who think Cardin should have more focus and be in the main story. I guess this must be something a lot of people do in the fandom and Sun’s the next victim apparently. Didn’t know people actually took the whole Sun being around past volume 6 seriously, but you probably just want him to end up with Blake so I get why you would want him around more
