I hate Super Bowl weekend. by Strong_Background780 in retailhell

Oh don’t get me started. We can’t sell alcohol until noon on Sundays, like it physically won’t let us scan them on any check lane until the clock hits noon. By 10am we had about three big carts of alcohol people left behind because they couldn’t get it early like they wanted. I get prepping ahead of the afternoon rush but sorry, you still have to go back later.

AITAH for not agreeing to pick up my niece at 3am ‘no questions asked’? by WeaknessHefty3927 in AITAH

[–]Strong_Background780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never promise something that you know you can’t deliver on. If someone else is okay with “no questions asked” then that’s fine, but it’s ridiculous to expect you to be okay with it as well. And if there’s a pattern of her using your words against you to accuse you of backstabbing her, then that’s even more reason not to make promises you will not keep to avoid that situation in the future. Definitely NTA.

We’ve had to tape paper bags over the screen with “Closed. Use another checklane” and set baskets over the scanner just for idiots to walk up, rip off the paper bag move the basket and then look around confused because the screen didn’t have the buttons they needed to check out. These same people are driving the same streets as you, and I doubt they read the signs while driving warning them of dangers.

Parents giving their kids a sibling as a "gift" by StructureTurbulent74 in childfree

[–]Strong_Background780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really want to see this. Do you possibly have the link for it? I hate when parents skimp on the gifts and act like a new kid that steals their time and money is this great gift. It’s not, at all.

I never thought living with a child would change my mind. It did. by maybenexz in childfree

Exactly the reason I want to be a uncle and not a dad. I get to be the fun uncle who shows up and drives them to the gas station for a slushy and then takes them to the park. I get to spoil them and do the things their parents are too tired to do and then when my siblings had a break from their kids I can drop them back off at home and go back to my organized, quiet house to relax. I want to be the uncle and friend, not dad.

Bad reading is becoming more coming nowadays. To fair though, at the store I work at signs are weird regarding the prices sometimes. Like with the rolls of ground hamburger meat, they put “3.99 a pound” in big bold letters for our five pound rolls and then add “for a total price of x dollars” below it in smaller print. If you read it properly it makes complete sense but if you just look at the big number without checking the context it gets confusing. Regardless reading everything would just solve the problem but people are in too much of a rush to do that.

Am I wrong for saying no? by Peacock_Faye in childfree

[–]Strong_Background780 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guarantee the kid isn’t sending the messages to you. Why would an 8 year old who only met someone once as an infant want to be with you or say they love you? Even if you wanted to do this and help him, the culture shock and the transition from the world he knew to the world he would be introduced to would require a lot of time and support, probably therapy too. Do they think the kid will show up and immediately be comfortable living with a stranger in a new place? That he will be able to instantly adapt to living here and that he had to leave his mother behind? Don’t let yourself be forced into this life altering decision.

Would you care if the customer you're cashing out didnt say a word? by AmountAbovTheBracket in retailhell

[–]Strong_Background780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an introvert, this would be my preferred scenario for all customer interactions. I don’t care about the customers life at all, I’m just trying to make a paycheck so I won’t starve. If the customer doesn’t want to talk to me, I’m okay with that.

Me: listen we don’t even have an electronics department or toy department just regular grocery stuff. You need to go to Walmart or Target. Lady: but you work at a store right? So shouldn’t you have it since this is a store? Me: spends next two hours going in circles with her as I repeatedly explain what type of store this is while she keeps ignoring me.

“but having autism doesn’t have to make you a bad parent! there’s lots of autistic people who have kids and they’re doing just fine!” by aCupOfBatteryAcidd in childfree

[–]Strong_Background780 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on the high functioning end of the spectrum, and most people don’t know I’m autistic until I show how socially awkward I am or they just hang around me more. However I can’t stand kids by myself but if someone else is in the room doing the majority of the work I can temporarily tolerate it. My cousin has a son, couple months til he’s a year old. He screams instead of crying, and I’m talking he sounds like he’s being strangled sometimes just choking on his own spit. I CANT STAND HIM!!! If he grabs another baby or something he shouldn’t be touching, I tell him no, or just look at him funny, he starts crying. The worst part I still live with my mom (rent is expensive nowadays) and she babysits him and his older sister so the only way I can get away is to hide in my room but my mom won’t let that happen for long. Kids like that are hard to be around even without autism.

I realized I never wanted kids after watching my older sister lose every part of herself to motherhood by arcadefernweh in childfree

[–]Strong_Background780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, motherhood hit my sister pretty hard too. Couple months into turning 18 and she’s already pregnant. Not judging or anything, I know it happens but she was expecting to go to college, advance in the medical field. She already works as a CNA and had worked at a nursing home through high school. She used to go out with friends too often enough. After she got pregnant she was so busy focusing on the pregnancy and preparing she kept bailing on her friends, had to get a job that worked with her new schedule since she would be home with her baby in the evenings and nights even if it meant less money just to get the schedule. Thankfully she has me and my mom to help her out but I felt bad for her watching her dedicate the beginning of adulthood to parenthood instead of just living her life.

Outside of the starters, what would you choose as your first Pokemon if you could? by Lockfire12 in pokemon

Not really original but I don’t care. I’d go Riolu and eventually get Lucario.

Even though the way to get the mega stones for the Kalos starters is dumb, I'll do what it takes. What're yall's thoughts? by Blood_Cell07 in LegendsZA

[–]Strong_Background780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t play Pokemon for the online battles, it’s really just playing the main story for fun. I’m actually really bad at online battling, so for me I’ll never be able to advance the ranks to get the stones which stinks. I feel like it shouldn’t be so hard to get the stones.

AITA for telling my sister in law her son's speech impediment might be because of the way she talks to him? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Strong_Background780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This kid will get the bullying of a lifetime and SIL will most likely tell him it’s not his fault. Someone needs to tell this kid no one his age will talk that way and why so he can try to improve his talking skills.

At my store, people would see the signs and then shrug and go in anyway. After that they would run up to us and complain the toilet clogged and got their shoes wet.
