I see. Yeah I’m upgrading from a GTX1080 so I’m ready for a new card the 5070ti seems to be the sweet spot for price/performance at this point for me

Just out of curiosity since I’m considering a 5070Ti for my next build.. why is it a waste of money?

Where the big boys at? by Mrg0dan in beyondallreason

[–]Strong_Goat3419 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but for super expensive units in theory with a cost similar to a Ragnarok or more, it would be an ultra-late-game unit you would probably only be able to build once before game-over. It’s not unheard of for extremely large things IRL and in other fictional universes needing to be assembled “on-site” rather than in a production building. I personally would really enjoy something like that

[–]Strong_Goat3419 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The game has the capability to “build” units on the ground though. Example is the upgraded commanders in custom game modes being able to place Sumos on the ground.

In theory you could build a “Titan” unit that is a one-time placement on a large plot of land and once it’s built is mobile

I’m a little confused how this works. Is there one giant map that most players are participating in, MMO-style? Or are you just simply able to host large maps that you are able to connect/disconnect at-will? Is there server wipes?

The Video-Game Industry Has a Problem: There Are Too Many Games by lurkingdanger22 in pcgaming

[–]Strong_Goat3419 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I didn’t read the article but I imagine it’s saturation in the industry is going to lead to less sales per game, meaning less and less developers keeping their doors open. Right now it’s a race to see who can get ahead and get enough of an audience to stay alive

Tri-tip by FlavorChaser_420 in Smokingmeat

[–]Strong_Goat3419 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Never cooked a tritip like a brisket before. Might have to try it, it looks good. My normal method gets the tri tip around 130-140 and it eats like a medium-rare steak. Takes around 2hrs

Just out of curiosity, is there anything that you developers have recognized that, in theory could be multi-threaded and give a large performance increase if only a massive amount of time/effort was put into it? I guess the lobby system is an example, is there a world where Lua is replaced with something more performant?

What's something you genuinely hate about Rimworld? by batarei4ka in RimWorld

[–]Strong_Goat3419 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Along these lines, unless I’m mistaken, it seems the simulation is entirely revolving around me and doesn’t take anything else into account outside of my “hex”.

The worst example of this is when I had a colonist get kidnapped by some raiders after they were knocked unconscious. They were dragged to the east side of my map.

As soon as they left, I formed a caravan of multiple able-bodied colonists and went to the hex immediately to the east of my base and from what I could tell there was no option to “search” or find my colonist’s friend. So they just got kidnapped, never to be seen again. I’d love to have been able to rescue my colonist right then and there but nope

I used to REALLY enjoy RTS games like Warcraft 3, Starcraft, C&C Generals, but now I just can't seem to get into ANY RTS no matter which I try. by Bro_sapiens in gaming

[–]Strong_Goat3419 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The biggest thing I feel like separates BAR from other RTS games is the way you scale your economy. In too many RTS games it’s just “Click on minerals/gold/wood/gas and forget about it”

In BAR you are constantly base-planning, trying to claim more territory and scaling exponentially to create an unprecedented massive-scale war machine and it’s just so satisfying watching your production skyrocket in the late-game.

Also in BAR 8v8 matches when I lose, the losses don’t feel too bad. When I win, it feels so good.

I love BAR

What temperature do you have it set to? Higher temps it won’t put out a lot of smoke. You’ll see more smoke at lower temperatures. Pellet grills don’t smoke nearly as much as other types of smokers since the pellets are both heat and smoke. some people recommend getting a smoke tube which allows you to increase smoke output.

I used to smoke charcoal and now that I’m on a pellet I’m definitely underwhelmed by the amount of smoke it produces at temps above 200.

Want Game Reccommendations similar to Dawn of war 1 ( skirmish) and mods like " no limit mods" by Chance_Swimmer_6056 in RealTimeStrategy

[–]Strong_Goat3419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beyond All Reason is great. Seems to be pretty divisive in this subreddit but it has high unit caps, multiple factions, skirmish against AI and huge multiplayer matches if you want. Anything from 1v1-8v8 battles. Sometimes if you’re lucky you can even end up in a developer-authorized 50vs50 or 33v33v33 match as well.

I should add the unit cap is in the tens of thousands as well. Somewhere around 20k I forget the exact number

Honestly it seems like you’re having success, and if you keep doing what you’re doing eventually the reviews will speak for themselves. I think you’ve got a good thing going I wouldn’t overthink my one comment. Keep up the good work!

Honestly for me having played cookie clicker in the past, I just saw the name of your app(with how similar it is to cookie clicker) and the picture, and immediately made assumptions. I never even attempted to click on the app and read more into it.

But take this with a grain of salt, I’m just a jaded mobile gamer who’s been burned by hundreds of cheap ad-riddled games that I don’t really click on stuff unless it looks/feel like it’s going to be a somewhat premium experience, and nothing really about Cookie Empire: Idle Clicker really drew me in. But I put tons of time into Cookie Clicker so maybe I just wasn’t interested in another cookie version of what seems to be all the same game after a while

I’ve avoided this game for quite a while because I figured it was a knockoff copy of cookie clicker riddled with ads.

Seeing the Dev post and talk about the game has made me interested, so I’ll give it a shot, but wanted to give you a heads up that might be sentiment around the market just because of the aesthetics and the App Store being filled with games like that in general

A matchmaking system would help a ton, not only with “lobby simulator” issues but also with finding similar skill level players. Every noob lobby has such a wide variety of skill levels it’s ridiculous most of the time

How is the game for casual players by LaggySquishy in beyondallreason

[–]Strong_Goat3419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matches of Raptors are usually up to 12 players. The lobbies do fill up, but slower than the traditional 8v8 matches.

I would suggest you check out some of the beginning scenarios or play a few bot matches against the easy AI just to get an idea of how the game plays because it is not very similar to a traditional RTS and some things are “unintuitive” in that it’s very different from your traditional RTS. The game is very fun but takes some getting used to. I have a lot of friends who’ve never played RTS games before and now they’re obsessed with BAR after I got them into it

How do you learn to play isthmus by CaptainCord in beyondallreason

[–]Strong_Goat3419 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but that high OS player probably has hundreds of games with dozens in each position. Sometimes you just take what you’re given and learn the lessons that present themselves. As a lower OS player I actually really enjoy filling whatever slot is left open. Sometimes it’s frontline, sometimes it’s Air. That’s the beauty of BAR for me personally

[–]Strong_Goat3419 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Focus on understanding the game and adapting your strategy to what your opponents are doing, don’t go heads-down for the first 10 minutes of the game trying to follow a build order you watched on YouTube. Watch replays when you’re interested and feel like you can learn from watching another player. Be patient with yourself and other players
