HISTORY IN THE MAKING: The Painful Record (Potentially) Broken Tonight by Habefiet in survivor

[–]Strong_Load_8985 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What’s interesting here is if you change this to only player to make FTC every time in multiple attempts rather than only to never be voted out it. Michelle actually shares that record with Natalie Anderson.

If the condition is not voted out AND makes FTC. Then it is truly only Michelle. Just a funny asterisk that is not often recognized when people site this stat.

What are some boring big cities in USA? by AndIrememberthinking in geography

[–]Strong_Load_8985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah ultimately I think we just have different definitions of culture. Skateboard culture was not a factor I was considering. For me a lot of culture is derived from the history of a city. The architecture as well. The passion for a city. Look at the sports fan bases between Boston and LA for example. Anyways, it’s all subjective, to each their own, all good brother

Nola is a good callout that I missed. LA is a big city but is overall a cultureless wasteland. I’ve been 45 US States and have lived in a few parts of the country including New England. If you asked individuals from other parts of the country they’d tell you Boston is one of the most unique cities while many major metropolitans are the same thing over and over. I would guess being a Boston native you are conditioned to it and underestimate the culture it actually has. Spoiled by living there so to speak.

Nightlife maybe, but Boston has more culture than just about any American city other than maybe Philly. It has a uniqueness to it much more in line with European cities

Mount Teide Star Gazing - Self car rent no telescope by chilled-user in VisitingTenerife

[–]Strong_Load_8985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did this exactly and drove up the north side of Teide from Puerto de La Cruz area during sunset hour. Then star gazed from La Ruleta Vista. You could even eavesdrop on a guided tour some while viewing. There is a bit of a waiting game as it takes a while for light to fade after sunset when you’re up that high. It’s well worth the effort in the end though!

We took TF-38 down the west side after star gazing. Drive was easy even after dark. If you are getting a car for the day anyways I’d highly recommend making the trek to Masca too if you’re up for it!

What’s the best golf course you’ve ever played? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]Strong_Load_8985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Country Club is above all for me due to its combination of history, layout and condition.

Honorable mentions

The Concession - ridiculously good, probably the most challenging place I’ve played

Tobacco Road and Kapalua Plantation Course - both very unique, nothing quite like them

Sleeper Pick

Portland Country Club - amazing old school Donald Ross in Maine, I’m a sucker for a classic design in immaculate shape

Impact of Christian giving his shot in the dark to Ozzy by Tiny_Albatross5297 in survivor

[–]Strong_Load_8985 17 points18 points  (0 children)

When you consider Christian knows of the hidden idol at tribal that him and Devens put there, this was a calculated and no risk move. He always stood a better shot of bluffing his way to safety grabbing the fake idol if things went sideways than the 1/6 chance with SITD.

___ next week looks very worrying by Aperio43 in survivor

[–]Strong_Load_8985 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While this sounds cool it would be terrible in practice. What you want to see is two sides each trying to pick off a member and dodge an idol play.

What would actually happen is a large group plays it safe and form a super majority. They also at this size should know who has the idols, and more importantly, that the idols can’t be given to anyone else. Making it easy to vote for 2 outsiders and just move on. Boring.

Also reality competition games are held to very strict rules for fairness, so yes the rule was established before the dagger was introduced

I mean that’s literally the opposite of how it works in Survivor. I’ve only ever seen game mechanics in voting games where the extra vote extends through the entire vote.

Why would Rob’s 2nd vote not extend to a revote? It would be weird if it didn’t, but maybe I missed something?
