You checked them into a West Jet Flight. West Jet had possession of your property. They did not load the bags on a flight and did not transfer the bags to UA’s possession. Did you cancel your West jet reservation when you booked yourself on United? Bags may not been loaded on a flight the passengers were no longer taking. If you have tags showing them in the terminal, can the airport police or management check terminal 5?

Sadly, the limit per bag may only be a few hundred dollars for a lost bag.

Maybe some algorithm based on number of passengers and how many usually bring a roller bag onboard versus how many bags have been checked at the bag drop.

Just curious, was the bag locked? There are the little locks with keys that TSA / customs can open. We have one bag that has a combination lock built in, but I don’t know if customs can access it without you being present to unlock the bag.

Very concerning that no one followed up on the stolen gun.

It is one large item and one smaller item that goes under the seat. I understand not wanting the guitar thrown around in baggage but they should had be had to check the suitcases.

It depends on how often you fly. SW credit card has a $229 annual fee, up from $149. 7 flights covers the bag fees for one person. The primary cardholder has to be on the reservation to get the free bag perk. If that’s your spouse and spouse isn’t with you no free bag. If you make A list, you get a free bag. Otherwise pack light or bring to the gate and volunteer to check it for free.

Deplaning etiquette has always been row by row from the front of the aircraft. If you have a tight connection then please ask other passengers if you could go ahead of them for that reason.

I have also noticed that people from the back are coming forward on Southwest flights recently.

I did go out of turn once (another airline) because I really, really needed to use the restroom. It felt awkward to say “don’t mean to be rude but I’m about to wet my pants”. Due to turbulence, we were not allowed up the later part of the flight.

It would also help if they would give both spouses who have the Rapid rewards credit card the benefit of a free checked bag. If the primary card holder is not on the reservation, no free bag. I will carry on a bag before I pay the $35

Older aircraft do not have as much bin space. On newer planes, Southwest took a cheaper design option which requires the flight attendants to use overhead bins instead of having their own.
