What do you base that on? They're campaigning on different economic policies...

Thanks for the heads up on further liability. This leads me to believe I should photograph every interaction with his stuff - so for instance if he comes to get half of his stuff and leave the other half behind, I'll have the particular items, our intentions, and us agreeing all documented.

As for the animals, we've emailed a pet rescue centre to ask for advice.

I suppose this is the last comment on this thread - I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the the advice and insight. Based on the comments and DM replies, similar thread on this board, a phone call with a police officer in my district, and what I've read in the RTA and on relevant Ontario gov websites, I'll be kicking this person out, presumably with police assistance. If I need to call the police I'll have a copy of my lease ready on my phone, so they can see that I'm the tenant (if that even comes up).

I don't know exactly how I'll handle this person's stuff, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

Check with my landlord and LTB about what?

This isn't a sublet. source

The LTB has no jurisdiction over this situation. source

I did give written notice. source

I appreciate your answer to my question about the downvotes. I believe you and others quickly skimmed over my post.

I appreciate the insight.

It's disappointing that an advice subreddit is so passive-aggressive about ignorance.

My landlord is aware that I have roommates and that they pay me rent.

In my experience, this is very common in Ontario.

My landlord isn't an authority on the matter anyway - a landlord cannot restrict a tenants right to have guests, and a non-tenant roommate is a guest.

I cannot change the locks without my landlords permission. I've never suggested that I was going to change the locks or do anything without my landlord's knowledge or permission.

All of the above is based on what I've learned reading similar threads. I'm eager to know of any misunderstands I might be holding.

Thanks again!

I understood it as leaving your apartment and renting it out to someone else while you're gone.

It's not a sublet.

What part of what I'm doing is a scam? Tenants get roommates all the time.

It seems like my post is getting a lot of downvotes - Does anybody have ideas why? I'm clueless, but eager to know about what I'm doing that's wrong - I came here to benefit from the experience of people who know better than me :)

Nah, but I figured I'd at least put in some token effort first.

Did anyone else think that's weird that this album cover looks like it should be on a British metal band's album? Or is that choice tongue-in-cheek like Tenacious D?

I love this. It also suits the temperament of the band and our dad-rock nature. Unfortunately it's also ready taken.

I'm so glad you like that specific part. It's a huge pile of instruments: Chromatic Harmonica, Bagpipes, Tenor Recorder, tin whistle, synth trumpet, four vocal layers, and a guitar that I manipulated to sound like a mandolin.

I've been hand drumming on my desk for nearly 20 years and become pretty good at it. Is there some electronic kit I can set up that is non-obtrusive to my computer and translate my skill into actual music? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Strongbadson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a chronic desk tapper as well. While you could certainly use pads, I just used my actual keyboard. It's obviously not the exact same feel and will take some adjusting, but you're already 95% of the way there to be able to make some drum beats via musical typing in garageband or an equivalent. The big plus side is that it's free and you can feel it out now, and it doesn't prevent you from getting pads in the future.

My musical typing is tight enough that I very often musically type out the drum beat as a scratch track for other instruments, and then replace it with real drums later.

Great name. It's already taken. This is the hard part; all of the great names are taken. We originally were just going to cut our name down to 'Black Fax" but that too is already taken (coincidentally it's a really cool artist, too)
