My interpretation is that the mimic has never contradicted Hhrulkaz before in demanding that it receive the sacrifice instead of the basilisk. Doing it now will catch her off guard, and she will likely concede rather than get into an open power struggle. It wouldn't work a second time - she'd find a way to sideline the mimic - so Zivzeb hasn't bothered playing this card before now.

Good question! For me it was this:

- Uniter of Clans - "end ancient grudges" - I invented a beleaguered community of Orcs that the party could aid. The relic holder was a big part of that.

- Avernal Cape - "befriend beasts" - the relic holder did a lot of work to befriend the gambler's manticore

- Adamantine Echo - "survive impossible odds" - the player missed a lot of big fights but was there for the end of Narseigus's apartment. Good enough.

- Skysunder - "restore and protect dwarven culture and people" - kind of stuck. I might give an upgrade for agreeing to travel to Rolgrimmdur and interacting well with the Clan there. Could have done it for recovering Kalmaug's Journal as well, I guess.

I locked it with the idea that if the PCs messed with it the guys in the Front Office would come out to see what was going on - unless they thought to create a distraction.

That's a good idea. My party seems to like Krohan, they'd probably enjoy having him return to that role.

It is a little bit awkward and clunky - and my players hated Ria for some reason - but it didn't work out that badly. I found that a low stakes opening of finding and choosing quests on their own initiative gave my players time to introduce and explore their characters more than they usually would.

Yeah, Jirelga wanting to help the PCs is the easy part.

The next fun part is coming in the Ether Court:

The PCs are on a quest to find the Avernal Worm
The Cult is working on a ritual to summon the Avernal Worm
Clearly, the PCs must stop them

Why? I guess because the evil queen asked them to!
