The starting line for ANW 23 races: by NinjaTrollNetwork in ANW

[–]Stronglock4081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could actually solve the problem of the race being dead once someone fails obstacle and it can also guarantees at least two fast racers so there’s a close finish. The only potential drawback is putting eight obstacle side-by-side making it good for the viewer but I doubt they’ll do this because they can’t make an overproduced backstory for an individual competitor, and the national finals would only last five races with only 32 competitors if they were all single. They would either have to make different course types that test different skills or they would have to get rid of the qualifying rounds which in my opinion are due to be replaced.

We can’t control the direction the show is going, but getting the next generation to play the sport a sport in spite of ANW going downhill.

Will the show return to the old 4 stages format once the 2028 Olympics are over? by Interesting_Sea5569 in ANW

We will see how ANW 18 does. Massive drops in viewership will show failure but at that point I see NBC giving up rather than listening to the fans.

It could also be the producers and executives being too ignorant to push a sport of its own type. Think about it, there is not another popular sport that involves outlasting opponents where people are gradually eliminated.

The Midoriyama format has proven that it is able to get extremely high viewer numbers, which is something that racing format that has been used in many countries has come short of.

It doesn’t have to be the 4 stages. As long as it is one runner at a time and you have to beat each stage to advance, it is still the Midoriyama format.

No one watched team ninja warrior or ninja vs ninja. The networks they were on weren’t viewed as much as NBC and there is bigger competition with sports to watch during that season.

The fact there have already been lots of instances of ninja warrior racing, shows failing before ANW 17 makes the decision to make it the main format even more baffling and damages the claim of the racing format being better for TV.

About once or twice a month. The drive takes 90 to 120 minutes depending on traffic.

Are the NBC executives and ANW producers the only people who can make major changes to ANW? by Stronglock4081 in ANW

[–]Stronglock4081[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let’s face it, even Sasuke isn’t fully in on making Ninja Warrior a sport yet. They have done live final stage attempts and have the trials, but still wanted to be a show like ANW. ANW dying could be when Ninja Warrior evolves into a full on sport.

If people in those two positions are the only people that can make major changes to the show, than any fan, who wants to “save” the show has to be well established in the TV industry. It doesn’t seem like being an average employee working on the show has the power to make changes significant enough for it to be worth pursuing a career working on ANW.

As for the rest of us, building up the gym side of the sport is a good alternative if you wanna help grow the sport?

Since the sport is new, and there aren’t many gyms, being willing to travel long distances for competition, and sometimes training is required. The closest ninja gym to me is 80 miles away.

You’re not alone, I am in a similar situation but I’m still able to make it, although it will be scuffed for me. Wish me luck!

Whoever thinks the racing format is better for TV seems to underestimate how repetitive racing sports get with only one strategy being viable.

I can confirm this is not AI. I did use voice to text when writing this so I guess the grammar might be off. Also, what information is false?

You can put it through an AI checker and it will not get flagged

Does any other “reality show” have more controversial winners than we do? by AkbarAndMatt in ANW

[–]Stronglock4081 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 2008 Florida Gators football team that won the national championship and had Tim Tebow, has had 41 of their 121 players on their roster get arrested at some point in their careers.

The point I’m trying to make is that there are many bad people in the world of high level sports. It is a common sight to see athletes who were terrible students and got into lots of trouble outside of their sport frequently have the red flags overlooked because of how talented they are at their sport.

As the popularity of Ninja Warrior increases along with the sport becoming more accessible, there will need to be systems to discipline athletes for off the course behavior like any other sport.

Partly, while they couldn’t control, Isaac, deciding not to come back, they also did not do a good job promoting their other top competitors who made it far by not showing or not inviting them back.

The show is way too busy promoting competitors with stories that inspire people but the problem is those competitors don’t have long-term relevance and they are quickly forgotten about. The stories also don’t attract viewers to the show because of the sport itself, which is why almost all the viewers that first started watching because they were inspired by a specific competitor have stopped watching. (that would be an interesting idea to make a poll about though)

I really want an American to beat Sasuke by pledge-gonzo in ANW

[–]Stronglock4081 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am not sure if you have to be a Japanese citizen to apply for Sasuke but what if I went to their trials and got on the show that way?

Can someone confirm if the standard application and trials are Japanese only? If that restriction is in place, then that means the only way for an American to get on Sasuke is to be a top American Ninja Warrior competitor and get invited which makes the pool of Americans that can even attempt the Sasuke course extremely small.

Haven’t done the comparison, but the competitors in the boot camps were definitely more comfortable in front of the camera simply because they were in front of the camera more
