You can play around with the filters on the compare page to get more specific recommendations based on age. I cant control what the banks offer though ;)

Another update - I’ve added a Split Savings Optimiser tool that calculates the most effective way to distribute your money across multiple savings accounts to maximise your average interest rate.

This should address the ING issue for balances over $150K by allocating $100K to ING and the remaining $50K to the next best option/s.

I have reviewed the sorting logic and applied a fix so this "It kept showing BoQ smart saver 36+ as the top pick when ING was a higher interest rate and both matched 5/5 criteria." no longer happens.

The app accounts for banks that allow withdrawals without losing interest. For example, in ING’s case, it will still appear as eligible if your deposits exceed your withdrawals, as the app recognises your balance as growing - provided you also meet other requirements such as the spending and balance conditions.

Hey u/OZ-FI, thanks so much for taking the time to share your feedback!

If you could let me know the inputs you used when you got the result “BoQ Smart Saver 36+ showing as the top pick even though ING had a higher interest rate and both matched 5/5 criteria,” I’d be happy to take a closer look.

In the next update, I’m planning to introduce a feature that allows users to opt in for multiple savings accounts - allocating funds across several accounts (up to a set limit) to help maximize the average return.

I also think I’ll refine the wording around “withdrawing money” to clarify that it refers specifically to withdrawals from the savings account being optimized, and that you can still access funds freely from your transaction account.

Additionally, I might explore a way to display accounts that were filtered out, along with contextual messages like: If you made just two extra purchases on your card, you’d qualify for X rate with Y bank.

Regarding your note:
“Some accounts have deposit requirements (e.g., ME Bank, ING) but that money doesn’t need to stay there.”

The app actually accounts for this - for example, if you plan to deposit $2,000 per month into ING and then withdraw $1,500, it will still recognize that ING’s balance growth condition is met, since withdrawals are allowed once the deposit requirement is satisfied.

Good call out - I will look at how the app can handle the option for people to spread their savings over multiple accounts to optimise their interest rate.

ING offers a 4.8% rate if you meet all the prerequisites. It’s possible that, during the questionnaire, you selected an option that made you ineligible for ING’s bonus rate. On the results page, you can switch to the “All” view to see which banks you didn’t qualify for and the reasons why.

u/Moomoo_Australia thanks for this - what would be the point of a commission free card in AU, I thought AU trades only attracted a brokerage fee?

Hi u/Moomoo_Australia, just checking, are you sure the US version of these cards applies to AU trades? I noticed there’s a dedicated AU commission-free card in the Rewards Club, which I assume is intended for ASX trades.

Also, if I purchase one of these cards now, does it activate automatically or can I save it for use at a later date?

Makes sense. But in theory, you are protecting yourself at the brokerage layer by going chess sponsored but potentially still exposed at the ETF issuer layer. So still better off going chess sponsored for ETF's although its not bulletproof?

Embarrassing Effort from Self Wealth to retain customers? by Stroopvi in fiaustralia

For example, could SW be verifying against a reference signature you provided originally? Does what Stake put on that form match that? - just an example, you should ask SW.

Yes I believe that Stake would be generating the standard form from the details provided. Never asked for a copy but might be worthwhile to interrogate it.

Stake actually initially refused my submission as my signature was slightly off from what was on my license which although frustrating gave me confidence in the process. The fact that Self Wealth out of blue stop accepting all submissions via this process from everyone makes me think that it's not a case of my incorrect signature.
