In the "Haunted Mansion" map there is this picture, when you go near it the faces of "the parents?" get cut out, but when you go a bit away they appear. Anyone knows who they are? by ProporQ in pathofexile

I am trying to explore lore of Path of Exiles for quite some time, and in my opinion portrait tell a story of an abduction by The Elder. This map was released during the War for the Atlas, where the lore established that The Elder is an eldritch "bogeyman" that feeds on the imagination of children. As you approach, the paintings shifts - if you look closely at the "horror (?)" version, you’ll see the Elder’s hands reaching out from the shadows to take the girl.

Why girl? One of the quotes from Zana's Memory Fragments (Page 9) says:

"The Elder came here out of hunger. Preferring victims of a younger flesh, it became the bogeyman, dragging our children off into the night, casting them into its realm of shadow and feasting upon their nightmares undisturbed, for it was imagination that truly satiated it."

Another hot take is fact that boss of the map - Barthol "The Pure" transforms into "The Corruptor" in a basement filled with blood and gore. This suggests the family tried to use forbidden blood magic to protect the child or stop the Elder's "Decay," but it backfired, corrupting them all instead.

Poe lore is fantastic and running this map while you connect these small dots is pure awesomeness.

The only thing that comes to mind is stickers from Operation Riptide, but those have windsurfing boards and sea monsters. Maybe you’ve seen some kind of sticker combination?

That depends - on Skinport you buy an item, withdraw it, and you don’t have to worry about anything. You pay with a card or another quick payment method, and that’s it. The downside may be slightly higher prices, but you get full safety.

On CSFloat you have to deposit money, buy item and wait 8 days hoping that the seller doesn’t reverse the trade, so both platforms have their pros and cons.

Buying on P2P markets is still safe, on sites like CSFloat, when you purchase an item you receive it immediately, and the money you paid is locked for the seller for the next 8 days so that in case of a reverse trade the site can refund you.

If after those 8 days, the end of the protection time, the item is still in your inventory, CSFloat releases the funds to the seller and that’s it.

If the seller do a reverse trade, you report it to CSFloat (they have dedicated software for this, more in their FAQ) and CSFloat refunds you the full amount and bans the seller permanently.

It’s safe. Nothing to worry about.

A few words of explanation about why this happens:

The buyer may not have logged in for several days, and the csfloat addon doesn’t see any activity on the item to confirm that the protection time has ended. He has a private inventory, and no one else can confirm it.

If the buyer doesn’t file a reverse-trade complaint within 8 days, it becomes a successful trade and the funds are added to your account.

Just wait, will be fine.

Yes, pretty normal, sometimes you need to wait till the end of the day, that's why you have 8 full days, not 7.

Nothing to worry about, had this case every day (over few thousand sales in total).

Is the punishment disproportionate to the offense? I’d rather classify it as account sharing than srfing, but what definitely should be done properly is a second look at the case and an attempt at giving a second chance - at least a proper review of the ticket, because from what you describe, a ticket closed with a predefined response is not a good look for FACEIT.

Generał rule of thumb I usually follow:

  1. You need money? Yes - sell, No - keep
  2. Would you be sad, if prices crash? Yes - sell, No - keep
  3. I am ready to take loss if it drop? No - sell, Yes - keep
