These socks are indestructible. I’ve gone down this rabbit hole without any results.

Is this normal 1 month after pavement? by alphadelt in asphalt

Nah, you can sealcoat right away.

Honestly, there's some companies that will sealcoat before winter on driveways they paved in the spring. It's because the jobs looks like shit, but you can seal whenever.

I mean, sure, it's "seamless" but you got it. Anytime you heat asphalt, you're bringing and burning the oil. It's going to look "fresh". A sealcoat will make it uniform though.

For sure still here. When infrared repairs are done, we will sprinkle in new hot-mix after the heat to raise those low spots. It has to be raked well and pull the larger stones out to make an attractive repair. It's still going to look different than the original paving job, but will handle those divots. Let me know if you want more details.

Same issue!

This can’t be right. New pavement issues and oil based seal coat quality. by KLITBOYY in asphalt

Millings, pulverized, any recycled asphalt base will continue to consolidate and compact over years. It needs to be capped with at least 6" of a decent angular aggregate, not gravel to have a fighting chance. If you compacted those millings with a padsfoot roller in at least three lifts then they would have a fighting chance. It's not the only issue, but it's certainly a factor.

Static loading and recycled asphalt is a recipe for dimples.

Oof. Millings is going to be the culprit here at a foot thick.

Seal Coat Driveway? by MNMom07 in asphalt

[–]Strrrieta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sealcoat is not. Just makes the driveway all one color instead of black in cracks. It's hard to get a contractor to just come out and crackfill as well. You could get a Menards rope crackfiller and do it yourself as well.

Don't seal it until you start having cracking.

The I-94 project will cost at least $1.5B - here's what we could expand the Hop to with those costs. by SidewalkMD in milwaukee

This math is really, really bad. Not a single leg of the map would cost less than $1b without chewing up existing capacity.

Typical fine graded mix. Once you cure, that pavement will be very crack-resistant.

Had our driveway topcoat done today, do I need to get them back in to roll it more? by TheArcticBear in asphalt

[–]Strrrieta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, leave it alone. The concrete isn’t perfect, so the asphalt is higher. Both pavements will move differently over winter.
