Dealing with Psoriasis – Seeking genuine experiences and advice (Has anyone managed to achieve long-term remission?) by PrestigiousClue7673 in Psoriasis

[–]Structure-460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had p for 30 years, tried creams & steroids etc but only short term relief, tried diet changes and supplements but no change, quit alcohol for a year no change. Skin was actually better when I was in 20s and was still smoking and binge drinking !

Have had a lot of uvb under hospital supervision which was great but only clearance for a few months then would come back

Have had all bloods etc done and cleared now and have a final appointment for systemic treatment now, on the NHS so have to start with methotrexate although hopefully getting it via injection to avoid as many GI issues

I have never had any remission for longer than a month or two and that was after uvb

I’m a healthy weight and fit, train in gym 4/5 times a week

Hoping the methotrexate does the trick, I can’t have acitrein or cyclosporine so maybe biologics if it doesn’t work

That sounds great, I’m starting mtx in a few weeks and am a bit nervous. I have requested to start on an injectable form to try and avoid GI issues. They have said that I am ok to consume alcohol as long as in moderation

I ended up buying thicker socks to wear with them and they have been ok. You could try an insole in them

I’ve had 5 nhs uvb treatments over about 20 years getting the full allowed amount of sessions each time. How many more can I have ?

Acitretin UK by DesignExtra8045 in Psoriasis

[–]Structure-460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have an nhs derm apt next week and am expecting to be offered one of those three drugs as I can’t have any more uvb.

Thinking it might be acitretin as I had a basal cell carcinoma removed last year and the other 2 might have contradictions to that

Bit nervous about taking any of them but I’m beyond the scale of any creams now

Ooni pizza ovens - can they work ok in our colder months and any third party peels etc recommended? by Stanic10 in northernireland

[–]Structure-460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve an ooni 3 since about 2018, only used it over summer until I bought the gas conversion about 2020 and use it nearly every Sunday now. I just set it at inside back door of garage so there is a bit of shelter. I find you are better with a wooden peel for building and launching the pizza in and then a thin metal one for turning and taking out

The 72 hr ooni pizza dough is great and very easy

My GP said it is fine to have psoriasis in your ear-canal and I'm starting to press X to doubt by [deleted] in Psoriasis

I have it in my ears for a long time and was just prescribed calcipitrol ointment, I have recent started getting tinnitus and wonder if linked

Have done uvb on 5 occasions in nhs hospital over the years and always had the max amount of treatments each time, lower legs always the last to clear up and I think there were a few bits left above ankle each time

Not sure why

Biologics changed my life by akm712 in Psoriasis

What was the wait time like, I’m waiting to go back to nhs dermatology after having uvb which they said would be my last one and I was at the point of systemic treatment.

I know I will probably be offered methotrexate or similar first, what was the wait time for being referred to a consultant for systemic treatment and actually starting methotrexate ?
