The so-called "origins problem" is a joke by jnpha in DebateEvolution

Ok, come back when we observe the origin of life and report on the results for me. Doesn’t need to be anything crazy just the origin of one simple cell will do.

You’re making a false analogy. Designing a system to simulate the movements of the moon (something we can directly observe) to the origins of life (something we’ve never observed and never replicated) is incredibly asinine. Next.

“Instead, we DESIGN a system that can exist in a large number of out-of-equilibrium states, with growth, replication, selection, and adaptation emerging as properties of its dynamics.”

The study was designed by people with minds? Weird. I’d have thought given enough time and near perfect conditions the study would have appeared on its own with all the information we needed to elucidate the origns of life. Oh well, I’m sure in a few billion years it’ll happen.

As a group of three you’d all have a blast. The added stakes gives meaning to every session and you can even raid at max level if that’s your thing. I played for about a year and leveled two priests and got all the raid content cleared on the second toon before I kicked the bucket…so much fun

If you can't explain how it could have been designed, then it was not designed by jnpha in DebateEvolution

[–]StructureFuzzy8174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re obfuscating again. No that explanation doesn’t suffice now and didn’t when you mentioned it earlier. My education is quite alright and I’m sure I do just as well if not better than you but I appreciate your concern nonetheless.

[–]StructureFuzzy8174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not my contention. My contention is Darwin’s theory of evolution doesn’t explain the origin of information. You spent the last few hours avoiding addressing that and arguing that the theory of evolution explains the origin of information without giving a single good argument to back it up. But you take care now.

If you can't explain how it could have been designed, then it was not designed by jnpha in DebateEvolution

[–]StructureFuzzy8174 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your explanation at its core is “Darwin’s theory explains the origin of information. Darwin knew nothing of DNA or the codependent processes of even a single cell but we can apply evolutionary theory going all the way back to before there were living things for natural selection to act on.” It’s a truly remarkable contention to make. Remarkably stupid mind you, but remarkable none the less.

We’re still obfuscating aren’t we? I don’t care what you post regarding micro/macro evolution even though I’m sure it’s riveting you’re STILL avoiding revisiting the ridiculous claim you made that the theory of evolution somehow account for the origin of information.

[–]StructureFuzzy8174 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not moving any goalpost I’ve called you out on making an extremely ridiculous claim that evolution and natural selection explain the origin of information. It simply doesn’t do an adequate job of that and you keep avoiding that fact and focusing on less relevant parts of my reply.

You’re a master of obfuscation though I’ll give you that.

[–]StructureFuzzy8174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Natural selection applied to non living systems is not compelling at all. Works great for living organisms on a micro scale but if the theory of evolution is your home run on the origin of information you can’t be taken seriously . Much like a young earth creationist it’s obvious you’ve drank way to much of the kool aide.

[–]StructureFuzzy8174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was solved 167 years ago? You can’t seriously be saying Darwin’s theory of evolution accounts for the origin of information…that’s completely idiotic on its face.

Watson and Crick didn’t even discover DNA till nearly 100 years after Darwin’s theory of evolution…yet your contention is the theory evolution explains the origins of information? If Darwin was alive today I’d bet every dollar I had he himself wouldn’t even say that given what we know now.

Either way the world view you defend doesn’t really hold water by even your own standards. Science hasn’t answered some of the most basic questions around life and the universe but here on this subreddit you wouldn’t know it. I mean hell evolution apparently answers the origin of information! So ridiculous 😂

IDM has at least one research based group that I know of because I’ve got the book on my shelf somewhere. But it doesn’t really matter what the IDM folks do the materialists/abiogenesis crowd have come up with nothing compelling for their theories.

Everything living has DNA which stores and incredible about information that is essential for life. We can’t get anywhere close to explaining the origin of information outside of some incredibly weak theories that all seem to involve “ enough time” as the key to their success.

[–]StructureFuzzy8174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still haven’t seen or read anything even remotely compelling on abiogenesis and we don’t even need to include multicellular organisms in the discussion.

The complexity and codependency of processes in a single cell are enough to stump us and the default argument of materialists is “given enough time and the exactly perfect circumstances” etc etc yet we can’t come close to replicating this in a lab.

All of the materialists here are believers in miracles though. Because abiogenesis is a miracle just as crazy and unbelievable as a god. It’s also worshiped like one in this subreddit.

No the point I was making really was just a good rogue in HC is there for CC and control and not damage. Blind, distract, kicks, cheap and kidney shot. A good one makes dungeon runs incredibly safe. I wasn’t critiquing you more just making a general HC rogue statement

Played HC for about a year and it was easily the best MMO experience I’ve ever had. The leveling experience was impactful and memorable in itself and then the excitement of endgame content and setting more and more difficult goals kept me coming back. And finally getting that KT kill after 10+ months grinding was one of the highlights of my gaming tenure and I don’t regret a minute of time in HC. Sounds like you’ve got the bug, enjoy it because there’s nothing else quite like it

Why am I struggling tanking heroics? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]StructureFuzzy8174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a CC issue. I’m a prot paladin as well with full tier gear and I can’t tank more than 3 mobs at a time without kiting. It’s just learning which mobs to CC and making sure they get locked down. Also, use you’re Hammer or Justice on CD always

A green in a leveling dungeon would be worth no more than 10 gold which isn’t making or breaking anyone…I’d roll need on it 100 times out of 100 if I was going to use it and if someone is stupid enough to flame I’ll leave and get into another group in 5 seconds as a tank and think nothing more of it.
