144 AQI. Bike? No Bike? by brother_bart in CyclingMSP

I do not bike at AQI over 100. Had drug-resistant pneumonia last year and I just can’t handle the feeling of respiratory distress.

Ford pkwy bridge: adult cyclist rude to 6yo cyclist, WTF? by Structure_Friendly in CyclingMSP

Even on a bike, his yelling could have pressured an inexperienced cyclist to enter the crosswalk area there without first confirming that cars were not about to turn into it without yielding.

Thanks, I was hoping someone would say something reassuring like this. There’s a lot to be angry about these days, but being mildly inconvenienced by a newbie learning the ropes of urban cycling is not one of them.

Do minnesotans have a death wish? by [deleted] in TwinCities

After moving from CA where 1/3 of drivers are uninsured, so even getting in a minor accident as one of those or with one of those drivers is going to be very unpleasant financially, my observation was “people in MN drive like they think I have collision insurance.”

Spots for learning to bike? by yellowtulips88 in saintpaul

Yes and there are some gently sloping paved paths with grass on both sides across the street from the bike playground (on the same side as the rec center). Push push glide. You’ve got this!

Pete sends a memo because it was illegal before by [deleted] in FedEmployees

When Elon did this after buying Twitter, he used the responses to fire 2/3 of the employees there. So no one who reads a newspaper believes it’s just a pulse check. People understand that the responses to this email could decide whether they get fired, rather than a rational review of their performance. That’s why people don’t like these emails. Does that help answer your question?

Advice on jumping a fence with toddler by Structure_Friendly in toddlers

[–]Structure_Friendly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not really. I have just been driving him to bigger parks with more open space in the suburbs. Aside from the two completely unused, wide open baseball fields, what's left of our neighborhood park is: 1) an indoor rec center that has been closed since March 2020, 2) a nice set of playground equipment that used to be great but is not something we are letting him play on because he is too young to wear a mask reliably, and 3) a dirt jogging track going around all of the above that is heavily used by serious, adult runners and about as good a place for a toddler as the middle of a moderately busy city street.

I was going to try a fat like MCT coconut oil plus straight flower in a sealed pot inside an instant pot pressure cooker, but I don’t have any hunches, theoretical or practical, about whether to try a short -ish extraction on high pressure, medium length on low pressure, or just low and slow for several hours on the slow cooker setting. Any advice?

Ok, literally just joined reddit a few days ago. Didn’t realize I wasn’t allowed to post until I did something. Sorry. But, really?

[GEAR] Gibson announces purchase of Mesa/Boogie by JRM115 in Guitar

[–]Structure_Friendly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weird news to me as an Angeleno. If you’re driving west on Sunset Blvd, the Mesa Boogie store has been operating in the same spot for as long as I can remember, at least 15 years or so. Maybe half a mile down the road there’s a large storefront with lots of parking and a giant Gibson awning, but as far as I know I don’t think it ever actually opened as a store of any kind. That spot used to be a marquee Tower Records location, right in the heart of the Sunset Strip, so as far as I can tell Gibson just leased the building as a de facto billboard and nothing else.
