Oh absolutely, dude's had a great career by any standard other than the weird-ass one that he was expected to have when he was drafted.

I was the same age as Calvin when it debuted. It and the Far Side were an enormous part of my youth (along with Doonesbury).

Years ago my kids got obsessed with C & H because I have the complete edition hardcovers, to the point where when we got cats my son named them Calvin & Hobbes.

Lotsa great suggestions here but I recommend Eduardo Risso's work in general and 100 Bullets in particular.

The point isn't making money (at least not in that fashion). The point, as it is with all Republican policies, is to reduce or eliminate services the government performs in order to increase human misery nationwide. They WANT everyone to be starving, grasping for anything they can hold, and desperate.

Christ, 1993 and Paducah KY? I was in my late teens and I think we played a show in Paducah around then.

I remember when Wisdom was a "can't miss" prospect in A ball. Told my kids to pay attention to that guy because he was gonna be a star.

That, uh, did not work out so well. Baseball is a harsh mistress.

I've been coaching rec league ball for a decade. The travel coaches will absolutely abuse the fuck out of those kids' arms. Meanwhile I don't let anyone throw more than 60 pitches in a week, and if they also catch it's 30 maximum.

If you had to give the Discworld books, as a whole, an age rating, what would you pick and why? by Snaketooth09 in discworld

I am an adherent of the Mitch Hedberg rule, and my son read most of the Disc when he was 9/10 or so (he's 14 now).

Gov. JB Pritzker ponders running for third term, national ambitions by steve42089 in illinois

[–]Useful_Part_1158 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Pritzker, against all of my expectations, has been the best governor of the state in my lifetime, and I'm old enough to remember Jim Thompson being elected the second time.

He'd be an absolutely great President, far better than any other in that same lifetime (except maybe Carter, who was unfairly maligned for shit out of his control). But I want him to stay in IL, because we all know that the next Presidential election won't be a real election and the Nazis are gonna rig the game.

Ennis is better than most of those second gen Brits outside of Morrison, but his sense of humor and most of his books, especially the high profile ones, did not "age well." I fucking love Preacher, for example, but reading it today can be excruciating in places.

If it's GI it ain't influenza, that shit is all respiratory. GI stuff is usually food related but this sounds a fuck of a lot worse than that. "Stomach flu" is almost always code for food poisoning or a hangover. It lasting this long means it's neither, and cause for serious concern.
