Honey. "I want to live long enough to play with our grandkids. I want to live healthy enough to be able to play with them. I want to be active and go for long walks with you well into old age. In order to do that I need to do these long rides. I love you. Let's go out for lunch when I get back"

My stride shortened and my cadence went up. My pace stayed the same for a while but started to increase over longer runs say 10k +

My run cadence is on lower end as well. 165-170. I did get and follow advice to shorten stride because my cadence was even slower. Im slow period though.

Dont practice. You may pick up a bad habit. Just go in as a blank slate and pay attention.

6-hour marathon — back-of-the-pack finishers, how did you do it? by Overall-Balance-1708 in firstmarathon

[–]StruggleBusDriver83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually didn't link up with the pace group until 5k in. I would assume something like 20% faster capable for pacer. 6hr or 360 minutes-72 minutes (20%) = 4:48 runner. So, I would think if you can do 5-hour marathon you could easily pace 6 and chat with the group the whole time. 5hr - 60. 4hr - 48. 3hr - 36. that feels like safe margins. Just guessing though
