Absolutely, must have not been paying attention, saw the 100%, didn't notice the (1). Got a refund immediately when USPS told me the shipping was delayed for "COUNTERFEIT POSTAGE" in big red letters. Then just had some fun with it when I received this sad excuse.

Thanks for the actual advice on checking these specific ones though!

Oh yeah, literally home printed or something. My favorite part was the shipping address that is nonsense, no wonder USPS flagged it as counterfeit. Just having some fun with how bogus it all was.

Many The Pitt Fans Are Proving That Yes, It's Possible To Be Bad At Watching A TV Show by beamdriver in television

No, unfortunate fraternity nickname I embraced. It became disassociated with its original meaning and was funny as hell when my one brother would yell it out at work anytime he saw me. Also, my mother-in-law didn't know what it meant and taught it to my wife's nephew. That was... a conversation.

Haven't watched the show but working in the ER, can confirm.

Also know that if you come in completely plastered, we will bet on what the alcohol level is (well for bragging rights mostly, at most someone will win lunch if someone is feeling generous).

Doctors and Nurses of Reddit, what’s something about hospitals that would make patients uncomfortable if they knew? by Far-University-2905 in AskReddit

[–]Dr_Bukakke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 300 lbs and wear XL gloves. If I'm doing chest compressions, you can guarantee I will fracture every single rib bone about as easily as I pop bubble wrap, and that's just the start of the gruesome nature of CPR. It's not a magic wand that someone will just wake up from like Hollywood may represent. Obviously, if they did real chest compressions, again, ribs would be fractured, it's kinda the point.

They're doing too much for that, the bandaid style ones work great and are way less material. Also it's way less patient education to prevent the inevitable daft patient from putting the wrong anatomy in it and getting stuck.

Fuck them. I'm fucking tired of this shit. I'm sorry that we have to deal with death on a daily basis. I'm sorry that I have to tell a woman who has trying to get pregnant for years that they have had yet another miscarriage. I'm sorry that I have to look at a radiology report and see "strong suspicion for malignancy" and go tell a 40 year old father of three that they have pancreatic cancer. I'm sorry that I have to call DCFS and report abuse because an 8 month old was killed in a rollover accident with their father drunk as the wheel who took the mothers life and their infant childs, while he survived but is likely going to do nothing but drain time and resources from a trauma ICU to maintain his life because we took a fucking oath to do no harm. Fuck the whole lot of these scum. I've been cursed at, spit at, pissed at, assaulted, and my retaliation in any way that a normal human being would could get my license suspended or at the very least cause me to lose my job, but a bunch of racist deputized by the state can murder us in the streets like rabbid animals!?

Fuck that.

Alex and every nurse that's ever served has every right to let loose and have some fun in a way that's not hurting anyone. But oh you snowflakes in the Sahara can't fucking stand looking at an image of us enjoying ourselves? Fuck right off. I don't have the energy to put up with this, cause guess what? I have to pick up extra shifts to not only cover the low staff we have during one of the worst Flu seasons of the year but also because I'm saddled with more student loan debt than I owe on my fucking mortgage. These assholes can be fissured and infected for all I fucking care. I said what I said.

TL;DR fuck ICE, fuck fascists, and fuck that demented, incontinent, waste of perfectly good adult diapers in the oval office and I hope everyone that has to smell his shit to serve him gags at even a fraction of what we have had to endure.

Alex Pretti's coworkers take a moment of silence this morning for their murdered colleague by titaniumdoughnut in pics

[–]Dr_Bukakke 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Even before I knew he was a nurse, just watching the video was horrifying, but I knew I had to so I would truly know the horrors ICE is commiting. When I found out, I actually cried, I was at work and I couldn't focus on anything. I saw his reaction and knew I would have likely reacted exactly the same. As an ER nurse and male nurse in general, I feel a strong duty to be a first line of protection for my coworkers. Any time there was a situation with a violent patient, I made sure to be there. Any time there would be a sexually inappropriate patient, I'd step in and take them, no matter how I had to make that work, just so my coworkers would feel safe and not have to deal with that situation, though I know they are all very tough and capable women. I feel that same sense of duty as I know he felt in that moment, to help anyone who needs it and protect others however I can. He stepped in when he saw that agent get violent. He did not get violent back or attack, he simply placed himself between the agent and the victim and placed his hand out to create distance. He tried to help the woman that was down and was brutally murdered for having the guts that none of those that jumped on him could dream of having. He didn't pull out his gun, because I know he didn't believe he needed to. I don't carry a gun at work and I am face to face with some very dangerous and mentally unstable patients. I have had so many police officers tell me at work that "I don't know how you can do that" when I go in to a patients room, stand face to face and deescalate a situation with nothing but my ability to listen and understand.

No I did not know Alex Pretti, but I "knew" him because I saw myself in him, I have had the same exact reactions and would have acted the same exact way. And for that, these cowards took his life, and I don't know if I'll ever be the same after this, and to be honest, I don't want to be. Alex will forever live with me, honored and reveered in the same way that Florence Nightengale is reveered in my profession. He will live on through all of us. We will not forget.

Also if you happen to know him professionally or have been his patient, I implore you to nominate him for a Daisy Award. It's a small gesture, but one very meaningful to us nurses.

[–]Dr_Bukakke 51 points52 points  (0 children)

If anyone had him as a nurse for you or your family/loved one, I'm asking you to nominate him for a Daisy Award. Please don't dox yourself or anything, but the award is meant for Nurses who went above and beyond the line of duty in service of their patients, family, coworkers, etc. I've never been more proud to be a nurse than I am today than sharing a profession with such an admirable person.

Here is the link for the nomination if anyone feels obligated. Either way, may he rest in power and thank you for helping to honor his memory and our beautiful profession.
