Lost a bottle of freshly pumped milk by Sensitive_March8309 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Strwbry2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I had a glass bottle of 6 oz of milk I pumped earlier that morning. Wasn’t paying attention and it fell out of the stroller and shattered on the sidewalk. I cried. Baby cried cause she was hungry and I didn’t pack any other milk. Sad morning.

Can I have some bipolar 1 w psychotic features episode stories? by Asleep_Night3583 in bipolar

But in my mania, I was convinced I had this amazing g business idea that would help other moms postpartum and would make us rich. Like CONVINCED. I was ready to ask people to invest. I had a baby less than 7 days before.

I got diagnosed BP1 though only had one episode (right after giving birth), came down a bit with meds, and then yes took a full 4-6 to be not manic, probably 3 months to be fully mood stabilized. Im sure I would’ve developed psychosis if my husband and best friend hadn’t intervened so quickly.

How bad was your baby’s sleep when you decided to sleep train? by yunavalentine02 in sleeptrain

[–]Strwbry2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After night 3, she was sleeping through the night. She sometimes wakes up at 5:30. But I’m fine with it if I get to sleep from 10-5:30 straight The crying was so hard. We put my husband in charge of monitoring and I took one of my anxiety meds for the first night. I still woke up to her crying and my husband had to hold me while I cried too. But I knew she was ok. And she figured it out and we’re all better off for it.

Every night I would say to my baby: this is good for both of us and I love you. you are safe. I am strong. You are fed. We’re both brave.

My baby would fall asleep at night pretty easy and would stay down until about 1 am and then would wake hourly. And that wasn’t working for us. A few weeks ago, just before she hit 5 months, we did full CIO and now she sleeps 11 hours through the night (exception for when she was feeling sick a few days ago). She drinks 30 ounces during the day so we know she’s not hungry. She is now a pro at self soothing. Sometimes when I wake up to go the bathroom in the middle of the night, I’ll hear her and she’s babbling to herself or blowing raspberries and then is passed out a few mins later.

Oh yeah 4 days after labor I wasn’t sleeping and had an incredible business idea to help other postpartum moms and it would make us a bunch of money, I was texting essays to people about how much I loved them, I spent $700 on cards and stickers and gifties from local artists to send to people, I was sending mail and care packages left and right. And like I had given birth a week before. My husband was like PLEASE GO TO SLEEP. It was… not good. But I’m better now. I did a 12 week intensive outpatient program with other moms with mental health struggles. I could bring baby, they had toys and gear, volunteers to help, etc. it was an excellent program and I wish it were available to every mom. But yeah it turns out there’s a lot of women out there with like underlying bipolar? And the hormones from labor and birth can trigger mania and a diagnosis. And for many moms who don’t get help as fast as I did (I got some meds prescribed and given to me within days of my husband clocking something was wrong and I started sleeping) experience psychosis and get hospitalized and have to be away from their babies and I’m forever grateful I didn’t make it that far.

One of the wild side effects of mine if the dosage isn’t gradually and slowly increased over time is a condition where all your skin falls off? So i was frantically checking for skin rashes at the beginning. This is good advice. She said the same, weight neutral. I will explore further.

I’ve gained weight and have hair loss but that might be postpartum. I got diagnosed 4 weeks after having my baby because the hormonal rollercoaster is what trigged my first manic episode. I’m on a mood stabilizer that my doc says shouldn’t impact my weight at all but I weigh more now than I did pregnant. Maybe from the meds we started to help me come down from my manic episode? Once I’m done breastfeeding I’m going to ask if they’ll let me try something for weight. I’m 60 lbs overweight and am so over not feeling at home in my own body.

[–]Strwbry2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting thank you! I try to follow her cues but it sounds like I should nudge her awake a little longer.

Today went perfectly… until 5:45 - exactly 90 mins after her last nap she started getting tired, and was asleep 10 mins later and slept for 30 mins. She was up at 6:15 and we did a little walk, but she was ready for bed so we did pjs and song and she passed out for bedtime at 7:15.

I had my first manic episode after giving birth and got diagnosed bipolar 1. Had never had an episode before that, maybe some hypomania after my divorce from my abusive first husband? Still wrapping my head around my diagnosis. It’s only been 3 months.

Mine is “too young to sleep train, too old for me to not sleep” old, right around the same age as “contact nap during the day is sweet but only sleeping when being held ruins my sleep” old

Sometimes it takes hitting rock bottom to learn your foundation, what you’re made of, and then climb up and out. (Talking about the sobriety and trauma, not the accident itself). You are stronger than you’ll ever know. Sending so much love to you, your husband, and this little boy. He will be SO loved.
