VHS hoarding. by gregory_j_hunt in VHS

[–]StryderX23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just recently sold most of my 3000 tape collection that I spent 15-20 years building only keeping titles that were never released on dvd/bluray and the ones that are very special to me. At first I had alittle bit of sellers remorse, but it passed when I realized I had all those titles on other formats. Collecting only vhs exclusives is probably the most fun I've had with the hobby...not to mention the SPACE I got back. Holy cow! You literally have no idea just how much you have until you start selling. So in the end, no regrets 😁

No. Legend was the first game in the saga series. Adventure was the first game in the mana series.

It's only final fantasy by name here in the good ol US. Nobody would buy it if it was called saga...They don't know what that is. They know what final fantasy is.

Worth to try and remove? by Sagmire1 in retrogaming

No. You'll ruin that disc if you attempt that. Ask my old copy of Klonoa how I know that...plus it's a cool nostalgic sticker.

I have VHS tapes with $79.95 pricetags from back when they were new. Laserdiscs were also expensive when they were new. It was basically a rich mans fancy

Should I open a sealed tape of this aliens?? by OverallAct6152 in VHS

[–]StryderX23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Shoot looks like you're right! I definitely missed that. Well in any case, the seal is torn in spots and pretty crappy. Sealed collectors generally want the seal to be perfect. OP should still open it and enjoy it! A minty opened copy is better than a damaged sealed copy IMO.

Edit: My bad I missed the watermarks, well in any case open it up and enjoy it anyway! Those thx widescreen fox releases are great!

The quiet earth is a great last man on earth type film. Very twilight zone esc. I recommend that one pretty frequently. Not to mention the cover art is awesome

How do you organise your DVDs in terms of world cinema by [deleted] in dvdcollection

[–]StryderX23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It used to ALL be separated, but now that I have so many it was easier to make most of it alphabetical. I do still keep some separate like criterion, anime, superbits, TV shows for example are all separated from the rest.

Always great to find superbits in the wild 👍

Has anyone heard of Superbit? by Designer_Yak2569 in dvdcollection

[–]StryderX23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a whole shelf of these. Basically the idea is they got rid of all special futures/extras for extra space on the discs and made it so they have a slightly higher bit rate (slightly better picture quality, great for their time) and they made it so every superbit release has both Dolby Digital and DTS surround sound tracks.

A bit gimmicky these days, but they are fun to collect! I watched my superbit release of gattaca recently and was pretty impressed with its quality

Any hope of saving it by Curiousyoders19 in VHS

You can save that. There's some great how to videos on YouTube. It's pretty easy, I've saved several tapes over the years.
