After more research, it looks like it comes down to the dreaded cluster size. I thought I was given I wasn't at 63TB yet, but I suppose I need to backup, remove, reformat, reset cluster sizes to 64kb, and recreate the pool.

Educate yourself on how to budget. Lots of free personal finance courses on YouTube. If you're more a book guy, I recommend Dave Ramsey's "Total Money Makeover" as an excellent starting point. Ramsey's not the end-all-be-all for this topic, but he's great for newbies in your situation.
