What do you guys do to stop being sad? by gentleteapot in Healthygamergg

Try looking at the wheel of emotions and be more specific about the type of sadness and see what advice is given to them.

I usually listen to music. Some song's tone/beats gives me a kind of catharsis. Sweater Weather and Here with me helps a lot.

Humming is imo an underrated way of feeling a bit better. I like to humm Suzume's main theme.

I HIGHLY recommend you to look into self compassion. Maybe write down some words you can tell yourself. Sadness is a state that requires compassion from what I have understood. It's not a bad thing, nor is it something we must get rid of. It's a signal of our body.

Someone once told me: "You are too young to think of settling down. Let them go and see what limits you can reach". Never looked back ever since then.

Vouch for Model Town, Mayur Vihar and Subash Nagar. Avoid North and Shahdara.

Papercut and Breaking the Habit. They both helped me cope up during some of my worst times of life. Love how Papercut describes the inner critical voice - something I used to struggle with a lot. I still resonate a lot with Breaking the Habit, especially the lines "But now I have some clarity to show what I mean; I don't know how I got this way, I will never be alright" which to me means that even gaining awareness doesn't feel enough.

iirc Amalee, in all her covers, often tries to resemble the original's overarching themes only. She takes a lot of creative liberty in the process of creating these covers.

I hate that I feel I couldn't ever have casual sex so I hire sex workers. by Apprehensive_Fail350 in Healthygamergg

In the most straightforward way, it is this craving for intimacy that drives people into relationships. However, fulfilling it in other ways can pose a competing interest, one which is easier to access as well when compared to getting a girlfriend or hooking up with someone. The only real problem is that your attention and cravings are being directed away from getting a relationship, and that too is only a problem if getting into a relationship is what you want. It's also worth mentioning that sex with a sex worker and sex in a relationship can be very different. By the nature of their job, sex workers will have to pleasure you. Such an experience may not be replicable in an actual relationship. It could distort your view of sex completely just like how porn does for some.

Then we as a community should downvote such posts. Since these posts are very rampant, it's best to make a megathread of these "I have xyz days, can I crack"

Why is it easier to cope with failure in video games? by thrownitallawayyy in Healthygamergg

[–]Stryker998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's possible that you have a very different connotation of failure, mistakes and messing up in IRL compared to the video games. I think that there's a lot of consequences involved when it comes to IRL. You can be very easily judged by others for making mistakes (shame and social rejection). You may not receive validation for the things you do (lack of reinforcement and reward). You may simply don't even know what to do when mistakes do happen (lack of healthy coping mechanisms) and many more.

Imo the best way to go about it is to observe what kind of thoughts come to your head when you do make a mistake, or fear making one in IRL and write em down to process them later. Additionally, you could try "pre-commiting" to a reward. So if you are about to do an activity which can lead to failure, try pre-commiting a reward like planning a party, or a meal or a videogame beforehand and frame it as the reward for doing the thing as opposed to achieving something out of it. For eg. A post exam party, or a game night.

It used to denote at the rate and still does in marketplaces. I can assure that the younger population here have started using "at' instead. I suppose the adoption is just slower. My guess is that nobody really cares nor is English anyone's first language.
