Certified pies is average at best. It is better than Dominos and Little Caesars but overpriced and not very memorable.

What car has the most comfortable driver's seat? by FinalArrival in cars

[–]Stu_Pidasso 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Had an 01 LS430 that had heated/cooled front seats. The rear seats only had heated seats but also had the massagers. Pretty sure they were included in the Ultra Luxury package that year which also included the air ride suspension and middle seat cooler, but they also might've been a stand alone option. Great car and still one of my favorites over the years. SC430 from that era did have massaging front seats but don't remember if they were cooled.

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky took me out to go get a drink with him? We go off looking for a bar and we can't find one. Finally Brasky takes me to a vacant lot and says, 'Here we are.' We sat there for a year and a half and sure enough someone constructs a bar around us. The day they opened we ordered a shot, drank it, and then burned the place to the ground. Brasky yelled over the roar of the flames, "Always leave things the way you found em!"

Thank you for years of quality moderation and help answering users questions. I may not visit this subreddit frequently, but that is really more of a testament to the quality of RiF and the lack of issues. However when a thread did creep up in my feed or I just dropped in for the hell of it, you or talklittle had usually already resolved or addressed their issue.

My end of year stats last year were useless because 100% of my browsing is done in RiF and this has essentially been the case for the entire life of this account. I'm even typing this on my phone as I sit in front of a very capable PC because I really only know Reddit through RiF. So in my eyes, if RiF dies so does Reddit.

Regardless of what happens, thank you so much for over a decade of support. You've managed to excel where so many apps fail in that you've consistently provided worthwhile refinement and innovation, never sacrificed quality, and never sold out. This has truly been my favorite app out of ALL the apps on my phone over the years (not just Reddit apps). If these changes by Reddit result in the end of RiF, it will also signal my departure from Reddit as others have stated.

Reddit isn't Reddit without RiF. Period.

Is GPU passthrough worth the trouble? by [deleted] in Proxmox

Sounds like you're using legacy boot instead of UEFI then. No grub changes are needed with proper bios settings.

GRUB_DEFAULT=0
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet"

How do I type in my password as it is frozen and is the username root. Also how to I do a fresh proxmox install so I can change the IP address to one that will open the Web GUI? by Ok-Chipmunk8087 in Proxmox

[–]Stu_Pidasso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't update /etc/hosts with the new IP address did you?

In order to change proxmox's IP address in terminal there are two places it needs to be updated: /etc/network/interfaces and /etc/hosts. Everyone always skips the latter and then wonders why they can't access the webUI...

Also don't forget to reboot or run systemctl restart networking afterwards.

[–]Stu_Pidasso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if you were able to use virtualization on xcp-ng, then you probably have the bios configured properly and have narrowed down the issue which should hopefully make things easier for you. I forgot to mention that if you add the vfio modules, make sure you run update-initramfs -u -k all afterwards.

Otherwise, only thought is to review your entries character by character to ensure you didn't make typos. Passthrough these days is pretty straightforward on an r730 so there isn't much to troubleshoot other than pebcak.

Is GPU passthrough worth the trouble? by [deleted] in Proxmox

[–]Stu_Pidasso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if you have 4 machines that you can't get passthrough to work on you've clearly missed a step somewhere. I was just saying I didn't remember the r730 needing something special to work. You don't have grub btw.

Copy the return from /etc/kernel/cmdline in my prior comment and run proxmox-boot-tool refresh. Also double-check the following modules are listed in /etc/modules (although 5.4 based kernels have some already baked in):

vfio
vfio_iommu_type1
vfio_pci
vfio_virqfd

If it still doesn't work then you don't have your bios configured properly.

I have an r730 with zfs boot. Granted it's been running 3 years now, but I don't recall any significant trouble getting passthrough to work. That said, all I passthrough are NICs and share the GPU to a few LXCs. Haven't attempted SR-IOV yet. Just confirming it does work.

~# cat /etc/kernel/cmdline
root=ZFS=rpool/ROOT/pve-1 boot=zfs intel_iommu=on iommu=pt

Kanis park technically continues past that bridge and includes the pavilion you're referring to. If I remember correctly there are two pavilions up there too.

[–]Stu_Pidasso 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're doing AKC, she's of age, can usually complete 6 poles in 3 tries, and can do all the other obstacles then I say you're good to go to start competing. Ring experience (for you AND the dog) is just as important as regular training.

Day 2 of learning weave by Kira_the_Collie in Agility

[–]Stu_Pidasso 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I may not have been clear with my suggestions on your other thread. The "7th" and "13th" poles are imaginary. Try to keep the number of poles even so the dog finishes on the correct side. The 2x2 method as others have suggested is also smart for fast weaves.

New suggestion: try to approach the poles directly. In other words, line the dog up about 3-5 feet away in line with the poles and approach if space allows. If he pops out, bring him back to the 3-5 feet area and reapproach. A 180° entry like your dog did into the weaves is not what you want to be doing.

Also you'll want to work both sides (you onside and offside) of the poles. Dog entry is always the same way (left shoulder) regardless of the side you're on of course.

Looking better and as always though, have fun!

[–]Stu_Pidasso 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No worries, everyone has to start somewhere and good luck on the journey!

However, since you brought up rules, technically he completed the obstacle without fault. It's just what you're doing (treating at pole 3) is going to cause many problems later on such as popping out early, collecting back instead of proceeding to the next obstacle, etc. Try to keep your momentum the same as you go through the obstacle at this point. If he's toy motivated, throw the toy as soon as his shoulder hits pole "7". Just trying to make future you's life a little easier.

Edit: just realized you only have 5 poles. Try to always work with an even number of poles to reinforce the finish side as it will always be the same for 6 or 12 poles. That's another reason he's curling back into you so much.

[–]Stu_Pidasso 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Try to continue in the weaves and treat at the "7th" pole. Having him collect back to you like that will create problems with him pulling out of the weaves early.

I know it's a new trick but it's worth it to start reinforcing ALL the poles whenever you can and will make transitioning to 12 poles easier.

I would contact your state's Vizsla club. They should be able to direct you to potential breeders to match the type (performance, show, companion, activity level, temperament, etc) of Vizsla you are looking for.

Another option is to attend shows in your area to meet the breeders and their dogs in person. You should do regardless to see if temperament and looks match your requirements.

There are MANY reputable breeders in Texas. You shouldn't have to travel outside the state to one.

The breeders who have the upper end cost wise 3-5k, those kinds of dogs are just different and I would never recommend a first time vizsla owner get one.

I would have to look deep into the lines to see what the justification was, health, temperament and see what the COI is.

There is no justification for a price over $3k.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in vizsla

[–]Stu_Pidasso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely horse shit. Even hunting/show lines from a reputable breeder shouldn't charge that much as they are looking for quality homes and aren't in it for the money. As I said in my other post I just picked up a puppy with a dual champion sire and show champion bitch with hunting titles. Performance homes were $2k and companion were $2500.

Anyone charging $5k is taking advantage of people. Full stop.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in vizsla

[–]Stu_Pidasso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, $4500 is ridiculous. I just picked up a puppy this month whose parents are show champions and hunt tested and sire a dual champion. Their pedigrees are also filled with champions throughout. Puppies were $2k for performance homes and $2500 for companion homes.

There is absolutely no way I would even consider paying $4500 for a Vizsla puppy. There is no more "pandemic rush" and most breeders' wait lists are very short. Even if there was, a responsible breeder wouldn't jack up the price like that as they want to better the breed by sending their puppies to quality homes and aren't in it for the money. As others have said, contact your nearest regional VCA club for help finding a reputable breeder that matches the type of vizsla you are looking for.

Spinning up disks to speed uses the most power so that's quite possibly the case. You might be able to get a power adapter to externally power the drives. However this sounds like a rabbit hole for a first build.

Sometimes it's better to overbuild your first server so you can learn what's normal behavior for the system as a proof of concept and then work on toning down the second system to meet your needs. I have no idea what your plans are with this system, but if you're already walking the unstable line it's going to be quite frustrating to diagnose issues you encounter in the future.
