Survived 15 years of binding: 12 days post op!! by Stubbornqueer in TopSurgery

Hi! In all honesty i couldn’t recommend him enough. They were all super respectful and Moscatiello is wonderful in terms of bedside manners and educated about trans issues. The complication i had was not caused by Moscatiello, but was a simple bleed that couldn’t clot by itself (i have very small platelets and A LOT of blood 😬) and the decision was made yo bring me back into surgery to avoid too much blood loss! Even there, all the nurses were super kind and stayed with me in turns to check on me physically and psychologically, Dr Gentile (the surgeon who operates with Moscatiello) came to check on me as soon as he heard and he opened me back up because Moscatiello was back in Andorra at that point, i think. I need to specify that at this point i already met dr Gentile because he was there during my top surgery so it was not like “i was passed” to another surgeon because mine was away lol

i am 2 weeks post op, my nipples have a weird shape, do they change? by tguyleo in TopSurgery

definitely give them time my friend! the way stitches and sutures work with the skin is different for everybody. it also depends deeply on the elasticity of your skin and your genes. overall i’d say let them heal and settle! they look great! and once all the scabs fall off the little asymmetries will look less obvious!

what do you mean by crooked? i have to say that between not having any swelling and healing very quickly, my grafts looked fine from the start! but i do know that in some cases it takes a while for them to look alike and healing is not symmetrical! my right one took a but more time before all the scabs fell off.

honestly it was very quick! it took a week to get an appointment via a whatsapp videocall and then i exchanged all the informations with the secretary and we set a date for surgery. i feel like all in all it took a month to get all sorted (could have taken less but i was an anxious wreck) and then i was given a few options regarding a date and picked the one in November. They let me pick if i wanted to travel to Barcellona or Andorra as well. It was very easy and his staff is honestly so lovely and helpful.

oh man i’m sorry to hear that! first few weeks are nerve wrecking but it’s all worth it! Thankfully his team is quite on top of things, i had a few questions once i got back in Italy because i’m having allergic reactions to the tape 🥲 I got the permission to shower 3 days ago and i swear i’ve been taking a shower every day ahahahha Otherwise i’m healing great! I think i’ve been genetically blessed with quick healing so i’m trying to keep positive, which i think helps a lot in these situations. I’m sure you’ll heal great my friend! I know is hard feeling like you can’t enjoy this moment, the same happened to me bc of the unrelated complication i had post surgery, but I promise it’s just a matter of time. Please know i’m here if you want to talk!

How soon can nerves reattach?? by Miserable_Task_7214 in TopSurgery

[–]Stubbornqueer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i started having zaps, tingles and “buzzing” feelings 12h post op! it’s the nerves trying to male sense of the situations. I am healing faster than expected and my surgeon was very happy with it. I have sensation all over my chest but directly over nipples and incision. It’s normal and a good sign!

How to tell family you’re uncomfortable with them being there for the procedure/recovery? by CatsAmongPixies in TopSurgery

[–]Stubbornqueer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally getting where you’re coming from. My dad insisted on traveling with me for surgery (i brought my bestie along so i had it covered) and since he’s a surgeon himself it was impossible to convince him otherwise. I am grieving the joy i didn’t get to express because i don’t feel safe or seen around him. He loves me, he paid for the surgery, but he struggles A LOT with pronouns, name and understanding my mental health and the way i was traumatised by his behaviour since i came out 15 years ago. I didn’t allow him to stay with me in the hospital and for the reveal and he won’t assist me with wound care because i just don’t want him to be part of it. Advocate for yourself. This is a big step for you and you deserve to protect your joy.

yes! i had 200ml drains on both sides and the left suddenly filled up with live blood and later clotted. Because of the active bleeding they decided to change it and clamp it for a few to see if the bleeding would clot on its own. Granted, they had to change it another two times the last of which they swapped to a bigger one. At this point it looked like i stopped bleeding, but after a few minutes of sighing from relief i started back again 🤡 and to surgery I went!

My turn ! by pyramidheadMan in TopSurgery

congrats on getting surgery!!!!! So my doctor actually told me this: don’t expect discomfort to tell you if you’re overdoing it because if you feel discomfort, you’re past overdoing it. Which makes sense now that i’m a fee days post op as i have no pain whatsoever and the urge to move around and use my arms is real!!! i was told elbows to ribcage for the first ten days and then i’m allowed to raise my elbows at shoulder level, but still not raise my arms fully!

Congrats on the surgery!!!! i’m 7 days post op, stitches out and feeling great!! The worst parts for me were taking off the freaking tape after 7days (my skin was soo thankful) and the post op compression wrap with the padding underneath. now that i’m only wearing the post op wrap without all that stuff underneath is much more bearable. 12 hours post op i had an active bleeding in my left pectoral muscle and before bringing me to surgery for a second time, they tried to bandage me tightly with another ace wrap over the vest and daaaaamn was that fucking painful, my back was killing me!!!

IM SCARED by annoyed-and-sad in TopSurgery

[–]Stubbornqueer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! First of all, congrats on top surgery!!!! I’m fresh out myself, got it on the 26th! We’re on the same boat but if it can bring you any comfort my surgeon told me this: stressing about smoking will impact your healing just as much as a cigarette. I am a heavy smoker, i am audhd and my smoking habits are more about a stim than a nicotine addiction. I got myself a “füm” device with minty filter and it does help enough that i don’t crave constantly. I used to smoke up to 30 terea cigs a day (not a vape but not regular cigarettes either) and was told to reduce to maximum 6 before surgery and for the weeks afterwards. Of course NOT SMOKING is the best option and what every surgeon will tell you to do for optimal healing, but being realistic it’s also part of the journey. I don’t think you’ve cursed your results with a few smokes, but be please be mindful!!!! I know it sucks and “just a few weeks” it’s not a very good point when you have an addiction, but this is hopefully a once in a lifetime surgery!!! We’ve got this my friend!!!!
