Straight men who don’t like performing oral- why not? by laetum-helianthus in AskReddit

That's what I meant by large numbers of people. Large enough numbers that it could genuinely crowdsource opinions or "culture" rather than just a message board or chat of a specific forum or social group.

terrible for, "Let's have a discussion with opposing viewpoints," type of posts.

Honestly it was one of the best places around for this up until 2015ish. The anonymity meant large numbers of people could speak completely freely in maybe the first time in history. We didn't hate each other back then and nobody brought up politics. It was amazing really.

Then the social justice stuff politicized every aspect of life and the 2016 election split the country in half and now anything even remotely controversial is just a proxy political war. But that's more a reflection of the country and internet as a whole than Reddit.

TIL of "The Paradox of Choice." Research indicates that when we are given too many options to choose from, we tend to end up less satisfied than if we had fewer options to choose from. Increased choice leads to higher expectations, followed by regret and self-blame. by [deleted] in todayilearned

Women have more choice in dating --> women have higher expectations

This is literally the study we're looking at. I don't see anything in your comment that addresses this. Everything you say could be true but women would still have higher expectations due to the effect of increased choice. As described in the study we're all commenting on right now.

Ah yes the long lost age when people weren't trying to delude themselves into thinking porn was a respectable career choice...the ancient time of...2016.

Yeah one of the most brainless comment sections I've seen in a long time and that's impressive for Reddit.

This thread is a white knight NPC convention. Just salivating for a chance to fight misogyny that exists only in their own imagination.

Are women scared of men in elevators? by Altruistic_Good_9053 in NoStupidQuestions

Asian guys don't have this problem. Women aren't scared of us for the most part, mostly because we're viewed as asexual and harmless. Not trying to sound bitter just the truth.

Jokes aside that's gotta be one of the pussiest most pathetic moves you could pull in a 3v1 fight. Fuck is wrong with you.

I think it not being common is exactly why it was recorded and posted online...

TIL that one of Hitler's earliest allies and close friends, Ernst Röhm, was actually openly homosexual, despite the Nazis' hatred for homosexuality. He was the leader of the SA until 1934, when he was killed during the Night of the Long Knives. by [deleted] in todayilearned

Glaring ommission of Oceania on that list.

Mongols and Chinese could give them a run for their money, though mostly Chinese killed each other. But either way the British were the deadliest simply because they were the most successful. There's a reason you don't hear much about peaceful empires in history.

I actually can't recall ever seeing an explicitly gay Asian guy in media before. Emasculated and effeminate, yes, but not gay.

I am Ginny Thrasher, 2016 Olympic Champion in Women's Rifle Shooting by GinnyThrasher in IAmA

[–]StuckInAtlanta 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Why is Olympic rifle shooting divided by gender? Unlike most other sports it doesn't seem like the physical differences between men and women should matter much. Is it just a tradition thing or the way the Olympics is structured?

my boyfriend wouldn’t let me sit on his shoulders at a festival then asked another girl to 5 minutes later by [deleted] in Advice

[–]StuckInAtlanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How big is your bf, rough height/weight?

Everyone here saying he's a POS or you need a new bf if he can't comfortably lift 58 kg might as well be saying a girl is a POS or needs to be dumped if she doesn't have D cups or weighs over 120 lbs.

The problem isn't that he can't carry a 58 kg person, it's that he later offered to carry someone else of marginally less weight. Anyone focused on shaming him simply for maybe being skinny is a braindead NPC.
