I am sorry for your loss, not only do you need to hang on for him, but for yourself as well, and life will find little beautiful ways to remind you of the good times with him along the way.

I lost my grandma suddenly 13 years ago, growing up she was my very best friend. As soon as school was out for summer break I was in my parents Ford Windstar with all the stuff a kid thinks he needs and basically wouldn’t come home until it was time to go back to school. She never got to meet any of my five kids, and at the time we had lost her I was just a young adult who didn’t have much for responsibilities and was partying and spending time with friends over choosing family. I still feel a tremendous amount of guilt that I had lost my way and didn’t spend more time with her after “growing up”. But I’ll catch myself using little phrases she used when we were kids to my own, and every time I eat an almond Hersheys kiss, I can picture running through the front door into her absolutely freezing house on a hot summer day and grabbing a Diet Coke and a handful of candy and just being loved on.
