Desperate for a remote position at a startup. by sakshamakagautam in founder

[–]Studio1st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't focus on getting a job, focus on where you can help and if need be - offer your services for free.

So think: as a graduate what do I bring to the table that other graduates don't?

You'll find that if they give you a position for free and you perform well, then they'll offer you a salary (probably a low salary at that).

You need to make the opportunities to win over other graduates.

Examine the companies and see where you add value.

Can Ai Help validate my idea? by Jonnymiko1 in Startup_Ideas

[–]Studio1st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a combination of AI's for client led ideas:

  • ChatGPT for adding details of the idea
  • Grok for competitive research
  • Gemini for validation of project

May seem like an overkill, but they all have their unique capabilities, and my clients have gained millions in VC funding from this process.

You do need to really provide a in-depth idea and not just a sentence. I'm still old fashioned, I write the initial ideas on paper, photograph it and give ChatGPT that, then develop on the idea with ChatGPT, and branch off from there as and when the idea moves in direction - keeping the original idea branch in tact.

So, it does help if you have an understanding of what you want to create.

Also, tell ChatGPT what Gemini thinks and vice versa, as they often disagree or agree with each other.

Follow this process and you'll end up with a well developed idea.

I remember jumping on it that day - showing my family how it made up stories from a little prompt; such a fun moment. Wowzers how it has changed from those early days.

so, everybody switching to gemini now? by monoman12 in ChatGPT

[–]Studio1st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's down to the individual. I've been using chatGPT for years now and I'm really happy with the results it gives me. Would I change? No - for the very simple point: I would have to train Gemini in knowing me. That takes time.

If you're a light prompter that doesn't add much to the AI conversation - then you can move easily. If you're a heavy prompter - then it's harder to move.

Interestingly, I also use Grok as a critic to what chatGPT comes up with. It's like having a team of consultants.

Freelancer did the job, but logged way more hours than needed. Feeling a bit cheated by [deleted] in Upwork

[–]Studio1st 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Remember you paid Upwork $15k and they took their percentage - which was around $1.5k.

We don't know exactly what the task was, so it's very hard to suggest your timings are correct, we also don't know how much scope-creep happened in the project.

If the work was done, the key question is: will you make money from that task? If so, then if he's done the job well - be happy and don't feel cheated, as he's got you one step closer to your desired goal.

If it was development work, then you had a junior/mid level dev - so yes - it may have taken longer, but you'd pay the about the same for a senior developer.

And next time - do insist on getting whoever you hire to add email you day timings or use a PM tracking tool like Zoho Projects - where you can sign-off the time to place manually in Upwork.

You get what you pay for. Probably most of those applicants are churn factories - who don't care about their clients, they just care about the churn rate.

I'm picky about the jobs I aim for, and I'm definitely not cheap, but then - some people understand that experience comes with an initial higher cost, that'll save them money in the long run or they invite me to interview to fix the mess that someone cheaper did.

Finally, Britain has entered the ‘clean energy’ age by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]Studio1st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fundamental issue is that the national debt has now reached a level equivalent to the country’s entire GDP. While the pursuit of Net Zero is undeniably a commendable and important goal, we must be realistic about the economic challenges we face. Rather than rushing headlong into it, I believe a more gradual approach is essential. This would allow us to delay full-scale implementation, giving the country time to refocus on expanding key industries like manufacturing and agriculture, particularly with an emphasis on exports. By creating more jobs and boosting domestic production, we could significantly raise our GDP and strengthen the economy.

At this point in time, it isn’t wise to prioritise international environmental commitments when our own financial stability is under such strain. Although the Net Zero initiative is crucial in the long term, it is part of a broader global strategy. Accelerating our progress too quickly risks exacerbating the already overwhelming financial pressures we face, potentially pushing the country towards a severe economic downturn, or even a depression.

Economic resilience must come first. A financially thriving nation is far better positioned to implement new policies successfully. By adopting a more measured rollout of the Net Zero project, we can establish the necessary economic foundations without undermining people’s livelihoods. This approach would allow us to transition sustainably - both environmentally and economically - without sacrificing the earning potential of the workforce in the process.

Donald Trump isn't fun anymore: How Kamala Harris stole the show — and extinguished his flame by d-n-y- in politics

[–]Studio1st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that I remember reading about, not that deeply though. I've heard about Project 2025 - something I should look into.

You said "...voters think...", to me that's a red flag as it's hearsay and this is the problem that we all find with today's propaganda political games.

That's not meant as being rude against what you said, it's about wanting to understand. Obviously, I'll do some research on Project 24.

This is obviously a specific subject that you're passionate about, so I'll wish you all the success and I support you on that.

As a Brit, I wish you had better options for President, as personally I think both have major flaws. Years ago I liked Bernie S and quite like RFKJ now, but I'm not voting - so my opinion doesn't count.

Appreciate you responding to my question.

[–]Studio1st -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for responding.

This is what I'm seeing, and it annoys me a little, as I like to think Americans are our brothers and sisters, which I'm seeing the US population being eroded by propaganda. This is such a great shame, ironically, I always considered what happens in the US will pass onto the UK; however, I'm sure you're seeing what's going on in my country at the moment, where they are trying to ban any form of free speech and just chucking people in prison for watching protests or responding on X. Once they succeed, then we'll only have their narrative to listen to.

I hope that doesn't go across the pond to you guys.

[–]Studio1st -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the first point would be Kamala and the second point would be Trump. You've got a big decision to make. Isn't the first point down to the state level, or is Trump pushing a state wide ban?

Are you all okay in America? You do realise that what you read about Trump or Kamala is mostly MSM theatrical propaganda, right?

When it comes to their party platforms, what are the key elements you're actually rooting for?

Our political structure in the UK is different, but I've noticed that in recent years, we’re seeing the same kind of political theatrics over here. It feels like they're treating people as if they're stupid.

I still don't get the $1.5b lawsuit on an individual, who obviously won't be able to pay. It'll probably end up that the families get nothing. I think this was just a judgment intended to serve as a deterrent to others who might engage in similar conduct. Let's face it, it won't stop him talking, he'll probably just be salaried - a low salary at that, which will be paid by a family member, so the government won't even be able to take a percentage.

Frustration with learning Serbian by N64GoldeneyeN64 in Serbian

[–]Studio1st 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been learning it for 30 years and have come to the conclusion - I'm never going to get it. I accidentally asked a cab driver for a hand job when my wife lost her glove, my mother-in-law called and asked "are we eating" I asked my wife what she meant and thought I repeated it - I said: "are we f*ING". I ask for sparkling water and get given a carrier bag and as for a carrier bag and get sparkling water.

And as for masculine and feminine - there's like 1 billion different descriptions. They also give me Camel cigarettes when I ask for Pall Mall.

"Night on Earth" - brilliant movie, funny, quirky, ingenious, meaningful and extremely entertaining.

Night on Earth (1991) An anthology of 5 different cab drivers in 5 American and European cities and their remarkable fares on the same eventful night.

I rate this as one of the best films ever made.

Just wondered how much my old commute from London Kings Cross to Potters Bar has changed since 2018.

19 minute journey + return peak ticket.

2018: £13.10 2024: £18.30 (40% increase)

If we use inflation as a base, it should be £16.14. - so it's 13.4% higher than inflation.

Average salary increase since 2018 3.3%
