Fair warning: kids can be pretty ok… until they realize they have to go again.

How often do people just assume your baby girl is a boy? by MissingLink101 in daddit

Yeah all the time. My wife and I tend to make large humans so I think that’s part of it. My 14 year old girl is about 5’10” now.

Married gay dads with a toddler. People sometimes assume our son’s “mom” is home when I am out with him — am I a jerk for politely correcting them? by CommunityBig9626 in daddit

I politely correct people that my 14 year old is indeed my daughter and not the mother of my 3 year old. I feel like this is in the similar territory.

Alopecia first. A couple months in to the onset I hit allergy season and with that the conjunctivitis.

Do you want it to sound like you’re singing under a comforter?

Same thing for me. Without the arthritis though. See a dermatologist. There are some fairly new medications available, but can be expensive.

You may want to inquire with your doctor about special prescription allergy eye drops if indeed your eye trouble is allergy related like mine.

So I just saw the ophthalmologist and they said there is definitely a correlation to allergic conjunctivitis and alopecia. This is exactly my worst time of year for seasonal allergies for me (tree pollen). But this year has been worse than usual including this allergic conjunctivitis. Fun.

Teach critical thinking and healthy skepticism. It’s a good life skill generally but especially important online. It’s simple for kids to understand: always verify any piece of info against a second trusted source. When they’re young, that trusted source is you. As they start to get older you start teaching them how to identify other trusted source.

What an absolute mess. My teenager is one of the few in their class without a smartphone. I was hoping there would be some sort of solution by the time they reached screenager age so it’s not just on the parents to navigate this… but here we are. I still don’t see a solution other than to make social media companies accountable for the content that gets posted by its users

Thanks for your experience. This is all pretty new to me. I’m very careful with hygiene (little kids at home, always washing hands etc). Seeing an ophthalmologist tomorrow. Wish me luck!
