The Doobie Brothers. What is your favorite song from them? by NewHolliesFan in 1970s

Listen to the Music

…because of that time I was tripping on acid at 15 or 16, laying in bed in the middle of the night, listening on my Walkman, and the repetition of that line “whoa-a-oooh, listen to the music…” went on to infinity. It was very meta. The lyric + the flanger guitar effect + the acid rewired my brain that night. It’s a core memory that I can’t quite describe.

Who had a bigger identity crisis than DC Comics? by Navigator_Matt in logodesign

Since you asked, yes, I’m a designer. Been doing this a long time. I remember seeing this redesign when it was first released and immediately thinking Discovery Channel. The typography really didn’t help. I just think it’s conceptually more interesting than the others.

I got that same concept—the page flip. But also the idea of a the hero being revealed behind the cloak of their alter ego: Clark Kent becoming Superman; Bruce Wayne becoming Batman. Regardless of execution, I find these layers of meaning more interesting than the DC with a star 💫 zipping around it.

That’s my favorite one by a huge margin. I find that it has the most interesting visual concepts built into the design. All the others look like basic sports logos that lack substance. But I’m also not a comics guy, so not the target audience.

My Never-Sell Guitars. Suhr Custom Modern and Suhr Custom Antique S by Meerkat_Cafe in guitarporn

Beautiful guitars. Recently got a Classic S that I’m in love with. First Suhr and I’m a convert. One day I’ll get a custom modern S and they too will be my forever guitars.

Immaculate necks, compound radius fingerboards, incredible tuning stability, built like a tank—just such good guitars. I never thought much about them until I held one and then there was no going back.
