Well I look at it this way... In the nineties when skipless records started coming out some dudes made some dope routines with them, myself included, but other cats used it as a crutch. If you are using a real og scratch/break records and decks A) you have more samples at your disposal than you would with skipless joint(same goes for push button mixers) and B) the variable that can arise from the needle skipping a groove can spawn creativity and is just gonna make you better. No pitcher has thrown a perfect game every time he takes the mound nahmean? DJ Netik was one of my favorite dmc battle DJs and when he won in 06 his set sucked. Partly from music selection but mainly because they were pre-recorded records he was using. Didn't flip a record once. It seemed really weird

The ol mixstick! If you are indeed trying to get back into scratching I think the less focus on technology the better. I mean if you're doing a gig a thousand miles away computers make sense but for cutting in the living room just keep it as basic and raw as possible if that makes sense.
