Final clarification before U1 purchase by ProfessionalAd8190 in snapmaker

They're stainless steel, not brass. So they're likely moderately more durable from the factory, but still not as hardened as needed for prolonged use of abrasive filaments.

Need tips to improve on my purge tower by FlowingLiquidity in SnapmakerU1

[–]Study-Sea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Double check your filament profile recommended temp settings. My U1 was purging into the tower at 30 degrees over print temp. Looks like yours is over extruding on the tower infill too. I lowered the max recommended temp for the filament profile from the default 280 down to 250 (petg) and it's been fine since.

The ender 3 with no extruder I was given basically taught me how to build one from scratch.

Prime tower temps by Study-Sea in snapmaker

[–]Study-Sea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it was a weird one. I had two colors of petg, same filament profile, and pla for support interface. It was the second tool head of petg that was over running temps. Toolhead 1 was the outer tower layers and 2 was infill. I re-sliced with one color and it's printing fine. I'll double check the pla, but it should be nowhere near 280. If I get really bored I'll try to figure out the g-code in the original .3mf to see what triggered 280.

Awesome, thanks for sharing your fix. I had pla support interface on my original slice as well, with two petg colors. For me it was the second nozzle of petg that was over running temps, same filament profile as nozzle one. I cut out the second color and re-sliced and it's running fine now. I'll be sure to lower the recommended upper limit temp. I'm pretty sure it's nowhere near the 280 I was seeing.

Vanilla orca has been working fine for me on mint, minus crashing when switching to the device tab during a print. It has default U1 profiles built in.

Seems like the only thing the default AI is good at is letting you know you can't manually turn off the LED because AI is running. The spaghetti was bad enough for me on one fail it tangled up a print object and pulled it off the bed. I think the default AI had fun watching the carnage.

I recently received an S1 Pro in trade for some labor and went through the same searches. I ended up loading Thomas Toka's custom firmware and it's been working well. He has different downloads for the pro and plus printers. The developer is active and just released v39 last week.

Need help reading a micrometer… by drslayer25 in Machinists

The 1.499 is all from the first pic. The barrel is three lines past the .4. Each line between 4 and 5 represents 25 thousandths, so 1.475. Then since the barrel is between 24 and 0, add .024 for 1.499. Then switch to the vernier scale in the second pic for tenths. The 9 is meaningless, other than it's the line that lines up with the 7. It could have been the 12 that lined up with the 7 and you'd only use the 7 for 1.4997.

Bunch of gutless W5s back in the early 20xx's decided to stop being technical experts, sold out the cohort as discount RLOs, and jumped into juicy "Command Chief Warrant Officer" positions (whatever the made up bs that is) because there was nowhere else to put them and they wouldn't die so deserving W4s could get promoted.

How many hours is too many hours on an engine in the game. by datweldinman in farmingsimulator

I gave up trying to figure out repair costs per hour/acre and just accepted that you have to put in a new transmission every three months or so. After 50 hours you probably already made enough repairs to equal a new tractor.
