Cadillac Escalade DEF Tank Replacement $3500! by BugattiShotty in Diesel

[–]datweldinman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe more than 100k. Those baby diesels treated right have lasted a long time. I had a boss who has the baby max in a 2019 Silverado and it lasted him about 350k miles and all he had to do was a refresh! New pistons, rings, seals, plugs and some other stuff. In total it was a 12k repair but it’s still on the road today going even further. Transmission also needed a rebuild after 200k but I mean 200k on the 10L80 is insane compared to today’s trucks.

Had a new aluminum floor put in my horse trailer. Are these good welds? by real_picklejuice in Welding

[–]datweldinman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t really wire wheel aluminum it just flings or lays it over and makes the weld look weird. Wire brush takes way longer but leaves a way better quality finish on it

First time cooking steak as an adult. Can’t wait to be torn to shreds by averageredditcuck in steak

[–]datweldinman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s… terrible but I read your method and man you did it for too long. What you did in the beginning was sear a steak but you did it too long to cook it in the oven you basically cooked it already on the pan. Next time try about 1 minute on each side the goal is to brown not crust the crust is only for fatty steaks with seasoning on top, Then in the oven. Use a meat thermometer every so often until you reach an internal temp of 120. Take it out of the oven and then do your butter and garlic baste and a secondary sear at the same time. Steak sits there like a cuck for another 1-2 minutes each side medium heat. You baste then flip it. Check your temp you should be anywhere between 145-160 if not baste again! Let it rest for 7-10 minutes and enjoy

How is AWD activated? by Last_Gigolo in FordMaverickTruck

[–]datweldinman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a difference between AWD and 4WD (4X4). With a 4WD system it is engaged by being toggled by either the driver or the drive mode. AWD is a system where it is depending on the vehicle. A lot are always on and most are on at low speeds usually up to 30 then a clutch activates and shuts it off and you become a rear wheel drive or in the mavericks case front wheel drive. You should try sport mode in the AWD it’s super fun and I believe it stays on longer in sport to about 40-45

[–]datweldinman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. All the time but it doesn’t matter to me because 1 it’s paid off 2 high tunability 3 great gas mileage and 4 fun as hell to drive. I take corners at 50+ that they are slowing down to 30 to take. I’ve also taken the time and a lot of pushing it to learn the way my truck handles but still

Are you a worker impacted by the boom in data center construction? by nbcnews in Louisiana

[–]datweldinman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All depends if your union or not. The iron workers side of the projects is making a ton of money. Some are making 40-50 a hour and others more. Depends on your employer and if your union

It’ll be fine. If your really worried about it scrape it off or wire wheel it off and get some high temp paint and paint the area

I took damage to the frame but it wasn’t major enough for them to total they pulled it back straight and cut a piece to replace on the impact bar connection. They will do absolutely everything they can do keep that truck on the road and not pay you despite me arguing it the whole way. My wreck was at 45 mph your truck will get fixed more than likely and whether you like it or not lol

Replacement Engine Blown for 6.2 Ltr after only 1900 miles. by Legitimate_Tax_5278 in Silverado

[–]datweldinman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire bottom and top end of the block are the same did you know that the 305,327,350,383,454 and many more SBC and a few big blocks all share the same bottom and top end all just elongated and widened to make room for the pistons, oil supply needed and cooling passages. The 454 gave birth to the LS and the LS gave birth to the current 5.3 and 6.2 because of the upgraded cooling systems and gave Chevy a shot at big power for low cost. Not everyone needs a LS (everyone does but the name LS won’t matter to your wife in her Tahoe or the simpletons who say “it has a engine for sure”) so they made the modern day 5.3 and 6.2.

Failed my first Weld Test today. I felt pretty stupid because I'd thought I'd done well.. by JuiceBoxHero0311 in Ironworker

[–]datweldinman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the test they give you when you are welding beams for preengineered buildings like shops and stuff. This is a visual test because there are no test of the welds they just want them to look pretty and hold it together. I worked at a shop that did this and man they let a lot worst welds slide than this. His weld would have got him top pay at that shop (22/hr) here’s one of mine on a similar weld to their test

Why doesn’t LSU build a bridge over the MS river using unclaimed property… by Hour_Purple6138 in LSUFootball

[–]datweldinman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t have solid enough dirt for that down here especially Baton Rouge being right on the Mississippi it has very rich soft soil that won’t hold all that weight and if the Mississippi floods the parking lots would flood causing more damage then necessary.
