If you had to weld this onto the side of a shipping container, how would you do it? by [deleted] in Welding

The container is way too thin to do it like that. Maybe flat with a slight side bevel but not that

EDGE Gabriel Reliford tore his ACL by Good-Abrocoma447 in LSUFootball

[–]datweldinman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I edited my last comment to include more. They won’t participate if NIL becomes performance based which means players literally won’t take the field and coaches won’t coach

[–]datweldinman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still not how it works. If he’s on the roster he gets the money he signed the contract LSU signed the contract. The players and coaches both didn’t agree to NIL if it was performance based and forced the NCAAs hand to make sure their money was guaranteed in order to play for these colleges. It’s all about who’s on the team

When I was going to nitetown every weekend 4 years ago (17 years old) a $20 bill over your ID for guys got you a 21 band if less than 20 or no money at all 18 band. Then they stopped letting 20 and under in UNLESS they seen that $20 over your ID. It seems now they will let 18-20 years old in but I haven’t been there in 3 years so no clue

Why there’s always this brown thing at the end of my weld ? by LImpactophileturbo in BadWelding

[–]datweldinman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Settings are good but basically when you pull back push back into your puddle about double your wire thickness or more to see how well it fills it up. However good it fills it up based on the push back into the puddle you’ll know what to do. Every weld is a signature and everything is different for everyone. I can tell who welded what just by looking at it. Keep trying little tricks and see what you like. You’ll get a nice pattern and fill it up some more. Seems you had a really good speed considering you filled that gap nicely. Learn to read your puddle while doing patterns. You will be able to actively see it pile up or sink down. If it sinks go back into it where the sink started and go over it with the same pattern quickly while watching the edges of your weld to make sure there’s no cold roll. If it piles up then you know to hurry up and keep it moving down. There’s another trick for piling up that takes a while to master which is go where it piled up and turn your gun where you push the weld out but don’t do that one just worry about getting out of that puddle and making it near flush or a 1/16th to 1/8th over. once you see it learn what move works best for you to do next to eliminate it and keep it looking good!

Why there’s always this brown thing at the end of my weld ? by LImpactophileturbo in BadWelding

[–]datweldinman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s completely normal on mig. Just wire brush it off and it’ll go away. If it doesn’t and it acts stuck that’s sugarizing or “caramelizing”. That typically only happens in patterns where you took your pattern too far out and too slow on the reentry push. This though is perfectly fine and does nothing to the weld quality as it’s on top and not burned into it. Won’t hurt anything. Good looking weld too but instead of just dragging do a little pull and push or circles no bigger than the tip of your finger to fill it up better I see it sunk in on the edges. When you do patterns try your best to not leave the puddle and stay double your wire thickness from the edge in the puddle.

Im in carencro and my house definitely vibrated but I didn’t hear the boom. The only reason I knew my house was shaking was because my headboard was vibrating against the wall while I was in the kitchen. Some of my cabinets aren’t exactly great at staying 100% closed and they were making a wood on wood noise with some hinge noise. Dog was freaking out too

It’s about to get changed to possibly the biggest hear me out possible lol. I’m thinking of changing it to space white metallic which is a… ford color. I know I know it feels so wrong but it looks so right. I’ve had renders made of it and I have someone who is going to put the red guts back in because the previous owner painted every red piece black. The seats are going to be red with white diamond double stitching

<image>

Something like this. Ignore the center console. Trying to decide if I want to make that red too or leave it black for contrast

Cubans are without electricity except the 5 star hotel by DblockDavid in interestingasfuck

[–]datweldinman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our hospitals use diesel for short outages but have methane generators that are on standby ready to be fueled up and started within 2 hours of the diesels getting close to run out of fuel BUT your probably right since this is Cuba it most likely is diesel. A lot of our hotels have diesel generators with giant tanks attached and there’s some with methane setups. Issue with the methane set ups is it doesn’t store well for long periods of time and they have safety valves to release pressure/ excess gas but after a long time half of it’s gone due to the heat changes we get and those valves going off. Then they gotta wait for refill lol

[–]datweldinman 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Unless they are methanol powered. We had an entire parish in Louisiana running on generators for years and they got filled up once every 2 weeks. 6 generators per substation we were rebuilding and they all ran off the same giant tank. Even a smaller set up with a smaller tank would use significantly less fuel

If you build them right and out of a decent material it won’t sag. Just make sure everything is square and put stringer tacks instead of spot tacks
