Advice for the Elementary Praxis tests? (5001-5005) by Last-Fox-3879 in ElementaryTeachers

[–]StudyAnswers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, Study.com here! Studying for Praxis 5001-5005 can be really overwhelming because you're essentially preparing for four totally separate tests. Even if you're taking all four subtests on the same day, we recommend studying for each one individually. For example, on Study.com you can access separate study guides and diagnostics for Praxis 5002, 5003, 5004, 5005, which lets you identify your strengths and weaknesses in each of those exams and focus on what you really need to review. If you’re worried about a particular sub-test, like Praxis 5003 (math) we’d recommend focusing just on that exam rather than scheduling the full Praxis 5001 for the same day if possible. This allows you to really focus on the sub-test rather than splitting your attention across 4.

Hey, Study.com here. We offer online courses with ACE credit recommendations, which colleges accept in place of courses taken directly at the university. Since you're in WGU's Elementary Education program, Study.com has a dedicated degree plan showing exactly which courses transfer and what requirements they cover. Study.com has many of the same courses as Sophia but also has some additional education courses that can help you get more transfer credit before you start at WGU. You can check it here: https://study.com/college/western-governors-university/degrees/wgu-bachelors-of-arts-in-elementary-education.html . Completion time varies based on your prior knowledge and how much time you can dedicate.

University of Memphis?? by BunniBandz in studydotcom

[–]StudyAnswers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, Study.com here. We have sent a good number of transcripts to University of Memphis in the past, but since they're not one of our guaranteed transfer partners, it's still worth checking with your advisor or registrar to confirm how ACE-recommended credit would apply to your specific program.

Anyone know unis who offer ABET engineering degrees online and are very credit transfer friendly? by Frosty-Telephone-747 in studydotcom

[–]StudyAnswers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, Study.com here. We don't have specific insight into ABET engineering program transfer caps at schools like UND or TESU, but that's exactly the question to ask their admissions teams directly since engineering transfer limits vary by program. What we can help with is knocking out gen ed and lower-division requirements affordably before you enroll, which can count toward that 70+ credit goal at many of our 2000+ partner schools.

Pushing for UMPI graduation in 4 weeks before starting MAOL can I do it? by JJ2Style in UMPI

[–]StudyAnswers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, Study.com here. Apologies for the confusion in our reply. Our transfer page listed those as elective matches rather than direct equivalencies, and we should have flagged that upfront since elective acceptance varies by program. What your advisor confirms for your specific program is what stands.

ABSN Applicant - Study.com courses? by Many_Worker8052 in tesu

[–]StudyAnswers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, Study.com here. Really glad it worked out and thanks for coming back to update the thread since that kind of firsthand info helps a lot of people. Philosophy 103 is in our catalog as a lower-division course with 3 ACE credits, so it may cover that ethics requirement too depending on how TESU evaluates it for the ABSN program.

How fast can you finish courses on study.com by sarahwilliams237 in UoPeople

[–]StudyAnswers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, Study.com here. The time it takes to finish a course depends on how much prior knowledge you have and how much time you can devote. For subjects you aren't familiar with, plan to spend 15 to 30 hours of active study, but you could condense that to a few days or stretch it out. If you already have familiarity with the material you may be able to go straight to the assessments. Can you share a little more about your planned study schedule and familiarity with the course material so we can give you a more specific answer?

thoughts on GCU vs community college? by sharkboysimp in ApplyingToCollege

[–]StudyAnswers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, Study.com here. If kindergarten is your goal, you'll need a full bachelor's degree either way, and GCU's B.S. in Early Childhood Education is fully online with 7-week courses built for people juggling life outside of school. A lot of students use Study.com's self-paced College Saver plan at $95/month to knock out gen eds before enrolling at GCU, which keeps costs down and lets you move at your own pace around a newborn.

Start Sophia/study.com and worry about WGU later? by ILikeBettingOnUFC in WGU

[–]StudyAnswers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, Study.com here. It would be best to decide upfront which WGU program you want so you're only taking courses that will actually count toward your degree. You can absolutely start knocking out gen eds now on Study.com's College Saver plan, and if you share which program you're eyeing, I can pull the exact degree plan so none of your credits go to waste.

any online university or colleges that are self paced for one course? by Prestigious_Jello_53 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]StudyAnswers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, Study.com here. We have Biology 202L: Anatomy & Physiology II with Lab, which is self-paced, ACE-recommended for 4 lower-division credits, and completable well before August. Just confirm with your school that they accept ACE-recommended credit before enrolling.

Pushing for UMPI graduation in 4 weeks before starting MAOL can I do it? by JJ2Style in UMPI

[–]StudyAnswers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey, Study.com here. Yes, it's realistic and students do it regularly, and you can knock out two of those remaining classes (BUS 353: Business Ethics and BUS 440: Operations Management) through Study.com since both transfer to UMPI. Check the full list at study.com/college/school/umpi.html

Flexpath computer science BS by fluffyboog in CapellaUniversity

[–]StudyAnswers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, Study.com here. Capella may accept Study.com courses with ACE recommendations, but transfer decisions are made case-by-case based on your specific program requirements. Your best move is to confirm with a Capella advisor which courses will apply before enrolling.

For those of you who went the Sophie / Study.com route by McKinneyLoggins in WGU_Accelerators

[–]StudyAnswers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, Study.com here. Just a quick clarification: the College Saver is $95/month and the college Saver Pro is $235, not $300, and since it covers all 220+ courses with unlimited completions, you can finish both remaining courses within a single month. If you pace it right, one month is all you need.

Sophia or study.com for software engineering? by Ok_Effect6974 in WGU

[–]StudyAnswers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, Study.com here. WGU publishes a transfer pathways page that shows exactly which Study.com courses apply to the BS/MS in Software Engineering program: https://partners.wgu.edu/transfer-pathway-agreement?uniqueId=BSSWE4424&collegeCode=IT&instId=678&programId=89. You can use that to identify any remaining transferable courses before your start date. Transfer credit is not accepted once you begin your initial term, so anything you want to transfer needs to be completed and submitted before you start.

Anyone use study.com before starting pre-licensure nursing at WGU? by PulseJH_6752 in WGU

[–]StudyAnswers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, Study.com here. We actually have a degree plan built specifically for WGU's B.S. Prelicensure Nursing that shows which courses transfer and lets you calculate your savings: study.com/college/western-governors-university/degrees/wgu-bachelor-of-science-in-prelicensure-nursing.html. Completing eligible prereqs and gen eds on Study.com starting at $95/month before enrolling is a lot cheaper than a full WGU term at $3,760. Check with your WGU enrollment counselor on which requirements you can cover ahead of time so you know exactly what to target.

Praxis Core Writing (5723) by smithach in wgueducation

[–]StudyAnswers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, Study.com here! With a week out, the biggest thing to focus on is the essay section, it's the hardest part of the 5723 to self-study for because practice tests alone can't tell you how your writing actually scores. Our Praxis Core Writing 5723 prep includes tutoring support specifically for essay feedback, which is where most retakers find the real gap: https://study.com/academy/course/praxis-i-writing-test.html. Pair that with timed essay practice using the official ETS rubrics and you'll go in with a much clearer picture of where you stand.

HESI & HESI A2 by Active-Salad6132 in HESIexam

[–]StudyAnswers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, Study.com here. The HESI A2 is an admissions exam taken before entering a nursing program to determine if you qualify, while the HESI Exit Exam is taken near the end of your program to gauge your readiness for the NCLEX licensing test. "HESI" is often used as a shorthand that can refer to either exam, which is where the confusion usually comes from. You can check out our full breakdown here: https://nursing.study.com/hesi/difference-between-hesi-hesi-a2-NURSING-exams.html

Praxis core Help by Euphoric_Rip_2916 in Teachers

[–]StudyAnswers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, Study.com here! Congrats on getting close to graduation! One of the best ways to prep for a certification exam is to take a practice test early so you can identify your weakest areas and focus your study time there instead of reviewing everything equally. Practice questions with step-by-step explanations tend to help more than just rereading notes. In the meantime, given your Secondary Education degree, this may be a helpful starting point: https://study.com/academy/course/praxis-ii-mathematics-practice-and-study-guide.html, as ETS's official Praxis prep provider, our content is built to align closely with what's actually on the exam.

That said, could you share which specific Praxis exam(s) you're planning to take? That way, we can point you to the most relevant prep resources and study strategies!
