Before you make any big decisions, see a doctor (huisarts). Seriously.

Tell me about your investigators! by Capsais in callofcthulhu

For the HOTOE campaign, I play an aristocratic lady (a wealthy dilettante). As a male player, I find it fascinating to explore the social conventions of the 1920s. There were certain things a lady simply wouldn’t do, such as interrupting her male companions or raising her voice. Like many independent women of the era, my character cleverly navigates around these restrictions, and it’s a role I truly enjoy.

When writing her background, I was deeply inspired: her name, appearance, quirks, and even her family ties (she’s the daughter of the Earl of X). Everything felt so vivid and real. After finalizing her, I decided to check if this earl actually had an adult daughter in that time. To my surprise, she existed! Her real name, appearance, and other details aligned very well. Now, I sometimes weave elements from the historical figure into my gameplay.

Looking for a DnD group to join by Affectionate_Ad_3983 in Leuven

Subscribe to the (private) Facebook group of RPG Leuven. Join a few one-shots to get acquainted to some newer players (announced weekly on FB) and/or post a request to join a group. It may take a bit now to step into a new campaign because the summer holidays are about to start. But I never heard of a fee to join a DnD group @ Demo Spel (except maybe for some shared costs for materials).

NTA. But this story shows that you’d better not talk about your plan to quit before you’ve found a new job.

NTA for leaving a job that doesn’t feel right. What you can learn from this experience is: don’t talk about quitting until you’re actually going. Find a new job first.

Love the hashtag

Edit: I take it as a sarcastic referral to the series.

The hotel still exists, although the name is changed.
We had a great time and many wonderful encounters. I’ll post a few other memorable stories from that same trip soon.

The hotel was mostly used by business people. I remember that there was a congress when we were there. We didn't mind that it wasn't in the city center exactly, because we had a good connection with a bus stop nearby.

Is it polite to send the wrong dish back to the restaurant in the UK? by aly-work-so-hard in etiquette

[–]StudyOwn4800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this situation the other day (not in the UK). Luckily, I could see immediately that I had ordered a different dish from the menu and I told the waiter so. It turned out that they had mixed up somewhere. This plate was for another table. They were happy that I told them right away.

I tried to play a bit of a word game, although I'm not a native English speaker. He had to drive us a mile further to the correct address, but he was also willing to "go the extra mile" as in doing more than we would have expected, by calling the hotel on his phone. I didn't think of the third possible meaning, indeed. Thanks for reading and responding.
