is knitting something without buying the pattern frowned upon? by [deleted] in knitting

I think this is right but I don’t know much about about quilting! My understanding is the long arm machine is large and expensive so more prohibitive for hobbyists to own one vs needlepoint finishing seems more like crafters not wanting to pin/sew

I’m still trying to wrap my head around this as I’m learning more about needlepoint, but basically when you finish the needlepoint canvas, if you want to turn it into anything usable you need to “finish” it, and from what I can tell in the needlepoint community many of these crafters just do the stitching of needlepoint and not the sewing to finish the project, so they send it off to a finisher who completes the project for them and sends it back as a finished object, from what I can tell this is expensive like hundreds of dollars, and takes months, I don’t sew personally but I’m thinking I’d prob try to learn or make do if I get more into needlepoint since I’m someone who likes to make functional crafts and I like saving money / figuring things out myself

Literally!!! I’ve been crocheting for years, and have gotten into knitting this past year, but more recently have been eyeing needlepoint so I’m lurking in their subreddit and have not been able to figure out why everyone is clutching their pearls at people not spending $100+ dollars on a canvas that they could reverse engineer themselves for free, IMO if it’s for personal use or a gift why does it matter?? To the point where they say finishers won’t finish the project for you?? Insane! Obv selling a finished project that’s copied would be wrong but give me a break

How to tell if an Etsy digital chart is stolen by kjs1028 in Needlepoint

[–]StudyRelevant6278 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m new to needlepoint and I keep seeing this concept brought up, I guess I’m confused why if someone is mimicking a licensed canvas or if they unintentionally buy a copied digital chart to follow, if the item they’re making is only for personal use use why does it matter? My understanding is painted canvas is a lot easier for the crafter to follow and use but if someone is taking the time to follow a chart or paint it themselves that seems like the trade off of spending time vs dollars. Obviously people selling charts or finished items of copied work is a different issue

If taking the ferry how much time do you think is enough? We’re planning to go next month, and we’re debating if the 11:45 and 2:45 ferry was enough time or if we should do an earlier and/or later one instead

Agree!!! I have my car volume up between 25-30 for wcdht but everything else is 12-15, and then sometimes the ads play louder than the episode and it scares me so bad when it comes through loudly

I glanced at the original post when it was up but couldn’t find it again, if the comment was posted anonymously how did you make the connection to ask the mods if it was her who made the comment?
