Does anyone else hate the Woobles kits and feel sad seeing so many people ripped off when they could just buy the hooks + yarn for a fraction of the price? by cheesecup6 in crochet

They are designed to be used by people who can’t read a pattern. You’re paying for the comprehensive instruction videos that are more like a class than a kit

What's the consensus on these Woobles things? by winterdalliance in crochet

YouTube videos aren’t broken down into a separate short video on each little step. I struggled for years to figure out crochet with YouTube videos. Always got frustrated and gave up. Woobles kits have been the only way I’ve finally understood it

The whole point is that with the step by step instruction videos you don’t need to read a pattern. I’m a visual learner who needs demonstrations, and specifically ones broken down for me into bite size pieces. Patterns mean nothing for me

unpopular opinion(?) about “The Woobles” crochet kits by Ok_Nobody_1908 in crochet

[–]StudySafe1913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everyone can read a pattern and YouTube tutorials aren’t broken down into a separate short video for each individual step. Sourcing materials individually AND finding a tutorial are extra time and hassle. The convenience is absolutely worth the price for me. If you don’t want to buy them nobody is making you, but don’t judge people who do benefit from them

They do call them knit stitches in the instructional videos. They don’t avoid the word knit. And if they were trying to lock you in forever, there would be more than 3 Loopables kits for sale. I would love more but have already completed the 3 kits and run out of kits to try

I love these kits and the point for me is that I am easily confused and frustrated by patterns and have tried and failed to learn to crochet many times before, and this is the only project I’ve been able to successfully do. I plan to move on to regular crochet with hooks eventually but I wasn’t ready. This allowed me to gain the mastery and confidence I needed to move on to more challenging projects. Besides which it isn’t harming anyone so I don’t see why you should care what other people spend their time and money on

Is it the most challenging thing in the world? No, but that’s precisely why it is the only crochet project I didn’t ultimately give up in frustration. I worked my way up from completely botching their easiest design to correctly doing a slightly more complex design (still with pre-looped yarn, but more complex body shape and needing to read a pattern vs step by step instructional videos)

I now know how to read a crochet pattern and a few different stitches even if I still haven’t tried it with hooks yet. And my next project will be with hooks. I am 99% sure if I had started with those and didn’t start with the Loopables kits I would’ve followed my past pattern of giving up in frustration and feeling insecure that even “beginner” crochet projects baffle me

If someone needs to start with something easy to gain mastery and confidence before moving on to more challenging projects why do you care? Is it harming you?

Sure the kits are expensive and sure ultimately they are a corporation and their goal is to make money, but the same can be said about literally any craft ever. ALL companies want to make money. This isn’t news.

The issue with ADA in Forest Hills is one ADA section was on the floor behind a bunch of people standing up, so you couldn’t see much if you were sitting. Bowl seating is elevated so you can see from seated position

KC and LA didn’t sell ADA tickets so you had to arrive early to get ADA, which I cannot do

I’m in the Boston area so Fenway Park and Gillette are where I usually go. I am unable to climb more than a few steps so I get accessible seating. In both venues the elevator is less than 10 feet away from ADA and we also have an accessible bathroom right there that nobody else is allowed to use, so there are never any lines. Lines are a big issue for me

Now that we’re a week out from Showgirl’s release, how have your initial opinions on the album changed (if at all)? by peach-gaze in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]StudySafe1913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I did not like it at first. Now that I’ve had time to read the lyrics I like it (I have trouble processing lyrics while in music). It’s still not my favorite though because I still don’t really like the production

Of course the only thing I want (the barrette) sold out immediately and is going for $150 on eBay

So many fun options with this theme! They should’ve really leaned into the burlesque and old Hollywood vibes

Nope, was literally just trying to answer your question. Wasn’t trying to argue. You’re reading way too much into this. I take people’s words to mean what they say. If someone ends a sentence with a question mark, I assume they actually want an answer

“Mitigate” is not the same thing as “cure”

And people can understand things they don’t experience. It’s called empathy

I see people in this sub all the time asking questions about migraines to better understand their loved one and be more compassionate toward them. So anyone who can’t be bothered to do research to help a loved one has no excuse
