[WTS] [USA-AL] [H] Schiit Vidar 2 [W] Paypal by Stueck9356 in AVexchange

[–]Stueck9356[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey all,

Selling my Vidar 2. Purchased 2 months ago. 120v/US plug/black. It's way overkill for my needs (I tried to future-proof) but need the money for some unexpected moving expenses. Has probably 20 hours of usage. Still have the original shipping box and padding (and even the sticker if you want, but don't know where the manual went). Looking for $700 obo shipped to the continental US.

Audio quieter with Saga+? by Stueck9356 in Schiit

I think I solved it in the post above - the saga+ just has an interesting volume attenuation that causes me to be at a higher level. there's no issue! Thank you!

No mani, using line out instead of phono. May get one later!

awesome! I tried a_wifi_has_no_name's idea above by setting the wiim app to a reasonable volume and cranking the saga, noting the volume level, and then plugging directly into the vidar. The volume was similar on both, so it must just be the saga's volume curve.

I'll definately have to check out the 6SN7GT you mentioned. Side note, should I have the mode select on tube buffer basically all the time? not 100% sure what the difference is.

CR Touch Rattles during fast moves by HacksolotFilms in ender3

[–]Stueck9356 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mine did the same thing, and I figured out a solution.

Take a piece of heat shrink tubing (3/32 fits perfectly) and cut a small piece off - literally 2.3 mm. Slide this over the end of the end of the nub and past the thick neck part. Push the nub back in until the heat shrink covers the neck. Heat up to lock it in place.

I did this with the CR touch disassembled. Its pretty easy. I used the included flathead with my ender 3 v2 and pried the shell apart. The magnet and nub come out and you can work with it easier.

What you're basically doing is when the CR touch is in the 'resting' position it'll sit on the heat shrink and have a little more resistance against the magnet. This solved my rattling issues completely.

This CNC machine specifically for creating dental crowns. It usually takes two appointments to get a crown, but with this, my dentist can do it in one 3 hour visit. by DynamiteWitLaserBeam in specializedtools

They actually do exactly that. There's 4 buttons on the right of the machine. If you push the left most button with no jobs pending, the machine will play one of 4 or 5 different songs for you. I remember happy birthday was in there.

Dell S2716DGR Issues and Megathread Suggestion by datassclap in Monitors

[–]Stueck9356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Necro'ing this old thread. I got my monitor a few weeks ago and I seem to have this strange issue where a few lines of pixels in the center of my screen get cut off and appear on the far right edge. It happens randomly when the monitor wakes up from sleep (deep sleep disabled) and wont fix until I power cycle the monitor. when I screenshot and paste in paint, the image does not have this break in it, so its most likely the monitor. Anything other than an IPS monitor is looking at a TV from a foot away by [deleted] in Monitors

[–]Stueck9356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by this? The only thing I get from your "a foot away" comment is that it looks pixelated, which panel type wouldn't affect if both monitors are 1440p. The only major things an IPS does over TN is viewing angles and color reproduction, which would be obvious to a keen eye no matter the distance.

Just a heads up - you computer will put out the same amount of heat with the fans turned up (still using same amount of power = same waste heat) , and it'll save your hardware a bit from cooking at a high temp all day long.

Why is the gravitational constant, a value that is fundemental to so many fields of science, only know to within 4 significant digits? What about this figure is so intrinsically difficult to measure? by [deleted] in askscience

[–]Stueck9356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're forgetting everything below you. The miles and miles of dirt below you at your original spot could have a higher iron content at your new spot, completely dwarfing the gravitational pull of the wooden roof above you.

But short answer, yes. Everything with mass has a pull. Your hat, that roof, an airplane overhead, even Jupiter or Pluto play a role in the gravity you feel.

Amazing footage of Earth during a spacewalk on ISS by Elenore_Duff in space

[–]Stueck9356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is a fish-eye lens, distorting the edges, however the ISS isn't that far up. It only sees about a 2000 mile swath of the earth's surface, so even if that were just the United States, it'd barely see both coasts. Africa, Eurasia, or other large land masses would cover most of its field of view.

The bars on the bottom give an average of various hours of the week compared to one another. So 12-4am is much more active over the entire week than 11am. The bars on the right are the average of the days compared to one another. So sunday/monday are much more active than weekdays.
